Auto Lock (Doors)

Does anyone know if this feature is available on the BRZ/FRS?

I know that on my other car, after I've reached a certain speed after starting the vehicle, the car will automatically lock itself.

I havent seen that on my BRZ and I feel like someone could just easily open the door while im at a stop light.

Too lazy to lock the door manually and when you try to get out of the car, it doesnt unlock itself either.

If it were, it would be on by default I'm guessing.

It's not present on our cars, but even if it were, I wouldn't be too sure about it being on by default. Some things that are off by default: Gear indicator, shift indicator for maximum economy, rev indicator, anti-theft alarm.

Wait - the alarm is defaulted OFF?!!

OP - just hit the power lock button when you get in if it concerns you. That's what it's there for.

Thought you could just tinker with the eletrical system a bit and you'd be able to do it.

But you guys say there's no way, so... lets just go with that. lol

Yes the BRZ alarm is off by default. There is a sequence you have to go through to enable it or have the dealer do it.

Door locking, etc. is controlled by a different computer AFAIK.

Try honking the horn. Our Camry doesn't auto-lock the doors unless you hit the horn with the engine running :P

Do you know where the shift indicator should be set for max economy?

To my knowledge, you can't change the shift points for the indicator - I believe it's hard coded somewhere between 2 and 3K.

If you use the gear indicator function it gives you a little up arrow as a shift indication for the best possible fuel economy. It's usually right around 2000rpm. Depending on your driving conditions, there is no reason you should do this. I improved my fuel economy by 0.1mpg doing this...and since then I've done better by NOT being so frugal with the big pedal. Shifting at ~3k (before the torque dip) will give you great fuel economy and all the confidence of not pissing off the prius behind you for going too slow.

There is no autolock feature. I'd guess we'd have to get an aftermarket option to make that happen. I wish it had that too.
