None, it exists as software in the stability control system.

If there is no abs or esp warning light lit, if the hill start assist light is on, the system should be working, unless you've got a super rare software issue no one has ever heard of.

I am not sure theres no lights on except for hill assist light. I bought the car from someone else and its a salvage title?

Could issue be the floor i turned on the hill assist was not “flat” enough?

Look, I just went out, enabled it on my car and went for a test drive.

Little green car on a hill top left of the dash, no other warning lights.

Hold the brake on a hill and let go? you roll down the hill. Holding the brake, press in the clutch, little green car starts to blink fast, you are now held on the hill, release the brake, select first, and off you go.

I don't know how much the the level, or lack thereof, of the car affect the system if you enable it while parked on a hill, I enabled mine in my parking spot, on level ground.

Thinking further,

If the light is on and it isnt engaging, it may just lack the trigger to engage... your car starts, so we know the clutch switch works. That leaves only the brake switch.

Check that the stop lamps illuminate correctly.

I just wanted to update! It worked only a steeper hill. Strange how it didnt work on my drive way or another hill or a speed bump that always activates on my wrx. But did work on a very steep hill

Interesting, the green car icon doesn't blink on my Series.Yellow BRZ, but the feature still works on steeper hills.

I wonder if there's a difference between Toyota and Subaru in that regard.

Same here, no blinking.
