camber bolts

semplice riguardo ai camber bolts, dovrei installarli...hello everyone I wanted to ask a simple question about camber bolts , I should install them on the front ,the instruction sheet eibach says that to have a negative camber you have to install them below , my mechanic says to mount them up , according to you where should be mounted?

The camber bolt's job is to allow movement of the control arm. This can be done at upper or lower control arms. If you want negative camber you can either bring the upper arm towards the vehicle, or move the lower arm away. Either is acceptable, but installing them in the lower arm is far more common and when adjusting on an alignment rack, the lower control arm is more accessible.

Andy, I've thought about using them at both ends or slotting one. Everything being stock, can't I get more that way?

savioita: our strut top and bottom holes are of different diameter, lower made for 14mm bolts, upper for 16mm ones. Just as Racecomp Engineering mentioned, there might be different camberbolts made depending if it's meant for lower or upper hole. I have suspicion that eibach ones are rebranded SPC camberbolts (81305) for lower, 14mm hole, so i suggest to use it there. For upper one can use eg. Whiteline KCA416.
Negative or positive camber change - depending on which way you turn bolt (usually easily seen by where that small tab on washer turns). Direction changes to opposite if bolt is used in other strut hole though.

I have to ask... for being a bonafide sports car, was there a good engineering reason why this platform didn't come with any adjustable camber if all it took was a pair of bolts? I can't believe it would be cost; they can just update the camber bolt during assembly and add $60 to MSRP and everybody would be none the wiser.

$10 for pair of bolts and extra steps during manufacturing (car would need more time on alignment rack) x 200,000 cars built and sold worldwide = $20 million, keep that $60 on the sticker and pocket $120 mil over the car's lifespan.

STI's come with adjustable camber bolts iirc so yes, they could have absolutely done so. Pennies were pinched everywhere on this car, the budget went into a unique chassis/body and engine/transmission.

Imho there is another saving done by not including them in set - to cheapen/quicken/simplify "official maintenance procedures" for dealership techs.
And there was no camber adjustment as stock not just in front, but also in rear, but to gain adjustment in rear as it looks from aftermarket offerings, one would need more then just two lobed bolts, but modified LCA .. which not only may cost more then current OE one, but also won't let manufacturer to save on reusing existing parts bin / large volumes of same parts (rear LCA seems to be same as one in many other subbies), rather needing to release separate new, smaller batch, LCA.
So total hypothetical savings .. i'd up that to $100 per car ..

Given that their part number of 5.81305k is very close to SPC 14mm one (81305) and that included manual lists to use them in lower strut hole, i'm 95% convinced that these Eibach ones are 14mm.
