Very loose rear end (Handling)

I'm stuck at work all day so I won't be able to fully respond until tonight.

Thank you guys for your help so far.

I ordered the ecsta 91 but they shipped the 31 but that's irrelevant. Hopefully it will be better with the 91.

I just changed the rear tires. Fronts are Michelin pilot super sports. So we're the rears before they went bald and then ran over a nail ( hence the doughnut )

I'm a bit worried now because Im a dumb dumb and didn't know about the no doughnuts on rear rule. Totally makes sense tho, * face palm *I drove with a doughnut on the rear for about a week. Probably about 50 miles or so. Any chance I ruined my LSD and that's the cause?

Honestly the rear bald supersports felt more confident and predictable on the highway that my car feels currently with the ecsta 31.

The fronts still have about half tread on them.

As a general rule of thumb, you really don't want to use a spare on any of your drive wheels, whether FWD or RWD. Next time just rotate your good wheel to the rear and use the spare on the front.

You should! Finding people that you can trust to work on your car is a god send.

To be fair, I've know my mechanics for 15 years. It's a dad and his two sons but they recently expanded and had to hire other people

I'm guessing it was one of the new guys that did the mounting

I'm starting to feel spoiled. When I had a new set of tires put on, the service writer asked if I wanted a specific PSI, or if they should just follow what is on the door placard.

They specialize in custom raised pickup and jeep work. Funny as hell to see my car sitting on the lot with a bunch of trucks I can almost drive under.

I figure your car's differential would have survived for 50 miles under those conditions.

Thanks for the advice. The subtext I'm taking away is my car is probably not ruined since you mention "next time"

I'm going to call up the guys who put on the tires though because it definitely doesn't feel right. It's like the back wants to swing around with the smallest amount of turning. And it gets exponentially more extreme with faster speeds. Almost like it's constantly hydroplaning but on dry pavement. I'll update here if I figure anything out

I'm willing to bet your rear toe is out of whack. It sounds like you have toe out in the rear instead of neutral or toe in.

Cool if I ever buy a Mercedes I will do that. Otherwise I will listen to the manufacturer who says do not put the spare on the back of the twins.

No. Torsen can differentiate forever with very little wear.

Duh. That's nothing to do with the diff. You don't want the space saver on a drive wheel.
