April SCCA Fastrack
http://scca.cdn.racersites.com/prod/...april-solo.pdf
Included in this a proposal to eliminate the "Stock" classes starting in 2014 as they are currently defined. "Stock" would change its name to "Street" and run on street tires (140 TW next year and 200 TW in 2015). It also eliminates shocks with remote reservoirs, allows replacing both front and rear swaybars, and allows the addition of camber plates and camber bolts for strut type suspensions. On our cars that means you could use them in the front but not the rear. |

The camber thing is really so people aren't spending tons of money on tires with certain cars, such as the WRX, Mini, Audi TT, most VWs, etc. Those cars with the current ruleset eat through expensive tires in no time since they have very little camber in the front.

I would guess that the current delta between two identically prepped cars, one on R-compounds and the other on 200TW, is bigger than the difference than a bone-stock car and a fully prepped one under the new rules.

There are a number of expensive shocks out there which do not have remote reservoirs. So it doesn't stop someone from still spending $5K on shocks if they really want to. Not that having those is a key to winning anyways, many championships have been run on cheaper shocks like Koni Sports.
I am favor of the rules for the most part but would like to see the camber allowance opened up for all suspension types. |

I kindof saw this happening with creation of the RTR sub class within stock. Most people I know would only run in the RTR class and not CS due to having to run R comps to be competative in CS. I also like the ban on $3000.remote res. shocks that most could not afford. This keeps the "stock" class a bit more down to earth and if someone wants to go nuts on the mods then we already have STX.

How does this affect RTR CS? Since 200 treadwear tires, both become the new Street class?
Sucks they allow for +/-1" wheel diameter, but not width |

Presumably, there will be no more RT* classes if the "Street Class" becomes a thing. I can't think of any differences in the rules once Stock gets off the R-comp crack.
Unless you just like PAX-indexed scoring. |

I agree with simpleisbest COMPLETELY on the half inch wheel allowance.
As Sam did on facebook, I highly encourage everyone to PLEASE write a letter to the SEB with your thoughts on this, that huge thread about stock class on this forum is filled with ideas and opinions now is the time to push the issue to make this "entry" ruleset into what WE as members want out of such a class. whether you are on favor or opposed, make your opinions known to those who have a say.

I like almost all the changes, but don't understand the two swaybar allowance. Won't we end up with massive, 'unstreetable' bars front and rear as the 'hot' setup (real or perceived)?
Also fyi, there is a posting at solomatters.com that provides some additional background info and reasoning on the changes. |
