New here. Where\how to purchase shop manuals.

I am new here.

I am considering a new FR-S to replace my beloved '93 MR2 Turbo daily driver. I'm wondering where or how I would buy the shop manuals. In MR2 parlance it would be "the big Green books".

A pointer to a site or an existing link would be appreciated. I've looked at several of the Stickies and not seen a reference and searching the site for "manual" will not be productive .

The manuals are on the BRZ general forum. They are the factory manuals.

Most of that material should apply to the other versions of the car as well. It's an ISO of a CD that you will have to download and burn to a CD or mount as a virtual CD. I have mine permanently mounted on my laptop so that I can open it any time. It requires Internet Explorer and will not work with the other browsers. Once you download it, go into the CD and open the file index.html in Internet Explorer, then click the blue bar where it says "BRZ 2013" and the "OK" button to launch.

These PDFs are included on the CD above. The PDFs are NOT THE COMPLETE REPAIR MANUALS, but are maintenance and supplemental manuals showing you things like how to change the spark plugs (16 pages LOL). If you want the exploded views, diagnostic procedures, repair procedures and all that, you need the full CD.

As factory service manuals go, I think these are pretty weak. They're still handy, though, even if they do leave a lot of questions unanswered.

While we're at it, if you want to get into the computer to get access to all the customizable features of the car, you may want to download TechStream:

I'd push the "Thanks" button but I do not yet have enough posts or points or what ever is necessary to give a proper thank you.

I've downloaded all of the links and ordered an adapter cable for the software. If I order a car ... wanting a Red 2015 automatic in the Minneapolis, Minnesota area ... the cable and the car should all show up at about the same time.

On a related note, wherever the FSM falls short, there are often DIYs posted on the DIY forum that fill in the missing information. You will do yourself a favor by setting up a bookmark folder for the car in your browser and bookmarking those DIYs as you use them so that you can come back to them later. The members here are generally awesome people who often take the time to take pictures of their own work as it progresses, so you can see exactly what you need to do to take your car apart without breaking it. They have saved parts of my car from destruction on more than one occasion.

Also, the search function on this site isn't always the most friendly, and I often end up going out to Google instead. Google will then point me right back to the appropriate page on this site with less garbage mixed into the search results. Then I bookmark the page so I don't have to wade through all that again.

The reason why Google does this is because it puts out search results based on your browsing history.

If using Incognito Mode, there's less returns directly to this site on the first page.

Well, sometimes it does it because I use "site:ft86club.com" to force Google to search only this site, but I wasn't planning to get into that since it's usually not necessary because of the browsing history.

My point was that Google's search from outside the site is much better than vBulletin's built-in search. If you have trouble finding something on the site (as people so often do), Google will often find it where vBulletin has failed.
