Myself I was refering to the front snorkel that is located into the front bumper.

I want to keep the fresh air scoop in conjuction with my new takeda / Greddy intake kit and I'm also planning to drill a hole into the connector pipe to reuse the noise generator like oem.
If you go for aFe takeda you have to remove the air scoop. That is my case.

It require you remove the bolts over the side marker to get into the driver side bumper to be able take the front bumper off.
Luckily I changed my side markers before I bought my Takeda, so learned how to get them out. It helps when you look where the clips are located:
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15560

The manual also doesn't mention the top clip inside the side marker housing that needs to be pulled out. The bumper wasn't too bad, but again, experience from pulling the door panels off gave me an idea of how much force I should apply. You kind of have to gently but firmly pull and get an idea of where the clips are. I got my snorkel out pretty easily, just twisting it then pulling it out. Putting the bumper back on, it wasn't aligning correctly, so I just pulled back and to the right to make sure the clips align. I'm not a car guy, and I didn't have to much of a problem. With doing any of this of course, there is risk. Ask yourself - for any reason, if you break the bumper, will you scream and cuss, or will you just say.. oh well, it was getting dinged and chipped anyway and replace it. If the former, depending on the project it might be good to have someone else do it. For example, I gave up on installing my front sway bar.. it's past my should/can I do this 'threshold'.

Peace,
Mike

It just won't fit. I can take some picture to show you why. For those who didn't remove the air scoop and had the aFe intaked installed, I don't know how. you might have to ask them.

If you look at the second pic, that air scoop is on the way if you try put in the intake. That air scoop have to be romove.

snorkel fits on aFe/Greddy. u can just it leave it alone if you dont want to remove the bumper. snorkel is just a restriction of air, i think. correct me if im wrong.

but for me, i remove the snorkel for my Greddy intake.

This is becoming very confusing about the stock fresh air scoop...

Some say you can install this intake and keep it.

Some say you cannot install it if you dont remove it.

Who is right ?

@NoFear99 when are you going install it? You will know when u r actually install the intake.

For those who didn't remove the air scoop and still able install the takeda/greddy intake. Please provide pic to teach me. I am just so curious how does that work.

take a look.. my aFe intake have the long open from the front.

there is another type of aFe intake..which has the short openning.

if you google the intake..there comes up some short and some long opening...I don't know why either.

Same for the Greddy brand

Long Opening

Short opening

@NoFear99 @86 FRS The ones with short openning...you don't have to remove the air scoop. The long openning ones required.
