Not everyone is looking for headroom. Lots of people, myself included are looking for < 300whp. You speak of cost per HP, but what you leave out is supporting mods required to take advantage of that headroom, such as turbo components not included in base kits(BOV, boost controller, etc.), clutch, injectors, pumps, upgraded drive-shaft, blown CV joints, building the engine, and swapping the tranny. As you add more power, this car gets much more expensive to upgrade and maintain.

Also our cars engine-bay is like an oven, and almost all Turbo kits suffer from extensive heat soak, even with oil coolers. If looking for a sub 300whp, IMHO superchargers are the best option to provide reliable and linear power. For myself I'm seriously considering the OFT-Vortech system, once price and more details emerge.

Your solution is to get a different car. You got the wrong car!

Why SC over Turbo?

Heat, exhaust leaks, rattles.

Been down the turbo road before, not interested in the headaches again. The power delivery was always exciting though, as was the sound of the spooling and the BOV - miss that a lot.

Exactly, the supercharger gets the foot in door, gives me the chance to disappoint in the dark.

If she even tries to bail (which is unlikely with the ropes on).

My back up plan is:

Quote:
@Rick@Vortech and @Brian@Vortech said: "The Gear-driven V-3 H67B Centrifugal Supercharger has plenty of overhead."
The struggle ceases, this is why most reasonable enthusiasts chose a supercharger. It also works on men most of the time.

Exactly why I went SC. Sure, could I have gone turbo, YEP. Just wanted the reliability and confidence of SC.

For the same reason myself and plenty of other people decided to buy the FRS instead of the closely priced, more powerful Hyundai Genesis.

Not to say turbos are bad. People like what they like, everyone's different. My brother owns a fiat abarth, and for the size if it's engine it's a torque monster. Nearly 200 ft lbs from his slightly modded 1.4 liter (ecu piggyback). I've driven his car plenty of times and I think it's blast to zip around town in.

Some people like the turbo lag because it adds drama to accelerating when the turbo finally kicks in.

To each there own really

Couldn't agree more. After seeing the OFT-Vortech system threads pop up yesterday I am seriously considering that route for all the reasons you just mentioned.
