Good Morning/Evening to wherever y'all are. WHEW, I'm glad to see the GR86 in full form. Product delays, especially in the Automotive market, are nothing to scoff at now so I'm glad Toyota made sure to plan a good release despite the rumors.

There's still the Pre-Production builds that are probably in the final series of Extensive Testing but there's reassurance with the Press Release that Production will start "soon" with Toyota's approval.

On a lighter side, maybe Toyota and Subaru are trying show that Red and Blue cars can coexist in a world full of Pearl White and Metallic Gray. I'll need some time to process the differences between each car but I do believe the GR86 has a better looking front bumper. But my desire for World Rally Blue is possibly stronger.

Curious to see what the actual changes are that Toyota made to make it ‘sharper’ and ‘more engaging’.

Bet you a dollar it’s harder rear springs. Again.

That could be a lot of fun in combination with the more granular 5-level switch for TC that will be standard equipment. Ideally you should be able to fine-tune the tail-out behavior, giving yourself a margin of safety that more closely meets situational requirements and personal preferences.

Yay, think it looks great and perhaps it was already discovered from the subie launch but I'm sure glad manuals didn't get inundated with the extra safety gear. I hope they bring Hot Lava back otherwise gonna be hard as hell to choose a color.

I don’t necessarily want eyesight but radar cruise control would be nice to have. VW has had a complete ‘eyesight-like’ system on manual cars since the introduction of the MK 7 GTI. That was a while ago.

None of these would make me ditch the manual though.

I feel exactly the same. We knew so much about what was coming and it's sort of a let down at this point. It's going to come down to whether or not you like those tear drop vents on the BRZ.

We'll have to wait for more details to understand the differences in the twins other than to rely on what was mentioned in the press release:

While engaging in friendly rivalry with the BRZ development team, TGR sought to develop a vehicle that would provide happiness to 86 fans, and realize an evolution of the 86's unique driving sensations. As a result, the new GR 86 is specially designed for sports performance, and provides direct and satisfying driving performance of the highest order.

IMHO, I think the twins should have been revealed at the same time. The only thing the delayed reveal of the GR86 has achieved is: Ho Hum, we've already seen this.

IG stancebois are complaining, but TBH, I like it.

it’s 2021 and we’re getting a new, cheap-ish, NA, RWD MANUAL sports car. I’m happy with it. 30HP bump over the previous gen and no torque dip means that this has similar power to a current-gen 86 with a header + tune + E85 (I think?).

still NA, which is refreshing in the era of turbocharged econoboxes. and it should still handle like a dream.

I genuinely like the GR86’s front end. the rear still looks like ass but the aftermarket will sort that out.

like most folks here, I prefer the previous gen, but there’s nothing stopping us from just continuing to buy those!

You can turn on auto-generated translation in settings (sometimes amusingly imperfect, but quite good overall).

@38:49 I do like the contrast on the door panels. Since this is a JDM spec'd model, wondering what we'll get here in NA.

Slightly different lights and interior trim and a different bumper. So pretty much the differences between the 86 and the BRZ that have always existed.

I still strongly dislike the side vents and running boards. There is no way the whole model line should be branded as GR since that is pure marketing bullshit.

Wait until they release the "GR86TRD" ... Great-Tard?

Unless they end up swapping GR for TRD and call it TRD86. This adds to the confusion of what both are supposed to be. But that's what marketing is all about. People love their letters and numbers.

Well, I sure hope we get the BRZ unit because it has actual buttons and knobs. Although the second unit looks like it might have a higher quality screen.
