Should I opt for a 3rd party aftermarket fuel pump replacement on my 2013?

I have a stock 2013 with a brand new engine. The Chirp and Cricket sound is prevalent and BP Ultimate nonethanol was a half solution that greatly reduced the sound. Without nonethanol options, the chirp is so much worse.

I am considering just going aftermarket on a total fuel pump replacement. Anyone have experience on this or can guide me to the right parts? Or, if you have done this, let me know what your thoughts and experiences are. I am not going to let Toyota replace the part only to have that replacement continue to sound that way. Thoughts?

The "crickets" are the HP fuel pump, there is no aftermarket option.

Interesting, I've had a few people elsewhere tell me you can, including this person.

Not saying he is correct, but his FRS doesn't chirp.

My BRZ doesn't most of the time either, but when it does it is the HP fuel pump which there is no alternate replacement. You can try messaging that youtube guy, but I don't know how much I trust someone who thinks that the "classic subaru rumble" comes from the cat back.

If you read the comments, he and I had a little conversation. Again though, I'm asking here because I don't trust it. Just reiterating what he told me. He linked me to this website and said any of these will suffice to remove the chirp.

Ask yourself this- is the noise coming from the engine bay, or the fuel tank? Your regular fuel pump ( that you can upgrade) is in the fuel tank. Your high pressure fuel pump is in the engine bay.

You can have the dealer replace it with the same thing- it will come back eventually.

I’m kind of surprised that an aftermarket solution hasn’t been developed by a real company. Especially with how many mods are available for this platform. The crickets join me every once in a while, and there seems to be no rhyme or reason to it.

Oh and for anyone who is playing Ghost of Tsushima, the crickets are a good thing.

None of those are the high pressure pump. He told you wrong.

9/10 People like that on YT are people with more money than skills/brains.

Skimmed through a few of his vids. He's definitely in the 9.

I would not be taking any recommendations from a guy that simply compares YouTube clips and then picks the top ten based on his personal preferences. Not only is it subjective there can be huge differences in how each clip was recorded so comparing them is just a waste of time. I lasted about 1 minute after he called it the "boxster" rumble right from the start.

I agree with you. That is why I posted it here. It was very odd to suddenly hear about this "replacement aftermarket part" that some guy on Youtube knows more about than anyone else in the world.

I'm happy the non-ethanol gas helps a ton. But, it still chirps just a bit. I'm not taking it in to the dealer to replace, that was never an option for me and I don't want them touching it. Lord knows what other issues me brand spankin' new certified engine will suddenly showcase afterward.

My crickets just went away on their own after about 80,000 miles. Things must have just worn in eventually.

I know with my car, I noticed it when I bought the car, and after 4 years they were probably there but I didn't hear them anymore. AT this point, I have to ask myself " what's the big deal?" After owning an 88 Bronco, this car throwing a rod bearing barely sounded out of the norm. At least the power steering pump isn't groaning when you look at the steering wheel
