2017 brz trapezoidal opening - Scosche SU2032B Dash Kit - any alternatives?

Hey, I just installed this today with my sony XAV-210xm HU. While it looks ok, It steals some depth and makes access to the controls unhappy. Like they needed to let the stereo sit forward about 10mm. The knob which I went for because I am a knob guy is now this little nub buried deep in the face of the bezel. Bah!

https://www.crutchfield.com/S-eyhfrp...-Dash-Kit.html

So I was wondering if anyone knew of a alternative. I know, 200mm wide hu but its too late for that

Go to the hardware store buy some washers, maybe get some longer bolts.
Stack washers behind the mounting plate.

They hard part maybe finding washers that would fit, but a little super glue should hold them in place.

Well, I was going to tell him to have a seat in our new '19 Civic with car play and android, but that's $28k investment that a simple $3 worth nuts and bolts can't fix. So...eh you know.

Well, just hold on to the Civic, I'm sure someone will be along soon that needs it worse than this fellow -

Speaking of mounting radios, brings to mind my HS experience with the radio in my 1948 Chevrolet. During the week, I would take it out of my car and mount it on the fender of the tractor to play while I was working the fields. On a clear day, I could get three AM stations, two of which were country-western, complete with the farm reports.

Then on the weekends (if it were raining) I would mount it back into the car for the Saturday night date and a Sunday drive.

Hey, I was lucky - I had a car - with a radio -

the Scosche kit is meant to be held captive inside the trapezoid frame. So spacing it out won't do anything, it would just push the whole assembly backward unfortunately. I am a master of the DIY so I even started modelling a better setup for my 3d printer that would let the radio come forward, or a new knob extension that I can glue atop the other one. But, the frame in a frame looks pretty bad. I also wanted this thread to be a warning to anyone thinking the Scosche SU2032B Dash Kit was the be all end all.

Did you notice this in the description:

NOTE: Will not fit Subaru BRZ with Starlink radio.

You aren't using a Starlink but was there one in there to begin with?

Might need to contact FT86 Speed Factory and ask what causes the incompatibility. Probably just the trapezoidal shape of the Starlink.

If the dash trim is truly Toyota OEM then it won't be double DIN but 200mm instead.

Thanks, I did reach out. Yes I was wondering if was the starlink shape or some other issue. I see your point about it being 200mm instead of double din. I wish there was a double din 1 piece fascia I could use and just call it a day. Maybe I need to make one with some filler and wrap it with vinyl

This is another option for using a double din head unit.

I think the community has been long wishing for a standard sized double din, single piece dash option. I've been bugging a certain person to produce one...

Same here! Or that Subaru didn't make one. I had a 2014 WRX before the BRZ and Subaru Japan sold a double-din dash piece.

@Drambeenie we need you!

If only we knew a vendor who could go to say, Metra or Scoshe and convince them that the math works.
