Well I just went out and started my car in -15C.... Fired right up.

Just did my 40,000km service at the dealership. Putting the car in dealer mode only took 2 minutes which is really nice.

No question came from the dealership and the only thing I notice is a HUGE deficit in torque. I can't I believe how broken the car feels without the ESC. It honestly feels like something is wrong. The car is making noise but it isn't moving nearly as fast as with the ESC

I actually recorded a 3rd gear acceleration fully stock.... It is very sad, I will upload it later.... Maybe I will do a side by side.

Just rolled over 14,000 km boosted with the ESC!

Dealer mode is just my saying for putting the car back to stock. It involves disconnecting the supercharger and reconnecting the stock intake. I have had two dealer visits so far and both times I went in dealer mode. The controller is still mounted as are the batteries but with Rob's battery hold down and black protective wire wrap you can hardly tell anything is different. I took off the phantom sc stickers for dealer visits.

Thanks for the props on the thread. I enjoy sharing all my experiences with you guys.

The only thing I can add is that I forget the I have the ESC until I put my foot down on the accelerator.

Go blow-through if you can, more accurate air and temp sensing. You have to have a larger transition area though. For every 1/4 in change of MAF size, you should have at least 2 inches or so of tube length. Otherwise you get very turbulent air and the vortex generated will vary too much with airflow speeds, thus creating a very non-linear calibration curve. If you are going to step it up from 2" of the compressor to 3" of the stock pipe, you'll want probably a good 6-12" (if not more) or use straighteners with 6" or so. The spacing to the throttle body matters as well. You want at least 6" there too. In the picture what you have there will suck for tuning. You can skate around it probably, but it will hiccup and be very inconsistent.

Unfortunately this aftermarket pipe caused our MAF sensor to be raised up about a quarter of a inch. While installing it we didn't think anything of it.... On first start the engine sputter to life and then promptly died.... This slight raising of the maf caused the car to not even run... We were not expecting such a small change to have such a large impact..... Back to the drawing board .

All in all it was a learning experience and Rob is now looking to make a housing that will be a factory replica as far as dimensions go.

Once we get a blow through maf working with a MAP boost stop it should help any of those people wanting to run the ESC on stock tune. It will also help to really fine tune with ecutek and brz edit with IAT being post compression. The blow threw maf will also get rid of some of the false maf reading we are getting very low in the rpm range.

So for anyone thinking I only post the good... This is a little road block we ran into

As always... Stay tuned for further updates and developments.

Ya the one we tried out was too close I think. We got the car to run but because we didnt have time to tune we abandoned until next spring.

Went for a ride in @Pugs ESC'd BRZ today at the AZ Bash and his car runs very nice!
I like how it pulls when he shifted into third and chirp the tires
I have also had the chance to ride in @RedLeaders Innovative sc car (the innovative pulls a lot harder imo) and that's about the amount of power I'd like to have.
That said I think the ESC+E85 would be a perfect fit for me, I am running an E85 tune now and think the esc would get me there I wonder if injectors and a fuel pump would be necessary too?

4000 should be about 3psi I think.

Do you still have dyno time lined up?

Yeah. Monday I am getting 91 tune, e85 tune, and we will dyno it too. Im hitting 3 psi at 4k as well.

One last question is there a way to test the drag reduction?

I'm showing about 3.2 psi at 4000 rpm.

The best way to test DR is to add throttle without engaging the ESC. You will see a brief flicker of the voltmeter showing an automatic engagement. It only lasts for a second...or less. It's easiest to see at low (2000-3000) rpm.

Basically if you go 60 percent throttle and hold it there without engaging the ESC WOT you will see the voltage drop from 28.7 to 28.3-4 and go back and forth between that.

Additionally if you have torque or anything that can look at absolute manifold pressure you will see that when you go close to wot that it will go back and forth between about -.5psi and +1psi .

Depending on altitude yours should follow the blue line.
