Supercharger catless torque reliability ?

Hello,

I'm looking for a little bit or advice.

I've just bought a BRZ with a sprintrex 210 supercharger on it. Currently the stock cat is still installed so there's a very obvious torque dip.

I've got a JDL 4-2-1 catless header ready to be installed and I'd like to go e85 at the same time.

I've been told too much torque is the main reason for FI engines blowing up. Is going catless + e85 a bad idea, since it will add a bit more power and remove the torque dip ?

Thanks a lot for your insights, and sorry if this topic was already discussed, I couldn't find what I was looking for on the forums

torque dip with a supercharger? you sure it's not just the bypass valve closing?

Hm I don't know, how can I check it ?

It for sure feels like my previous NA GT86, it suddenly starts pulling at 4.5k

Torque dip doesn't magically disappear, it's somewhat there even with a turbo spooling under 3000 rpm
yet it should be less obvious with the boost increasing esponentially the power and those JDL headers
So, i 'm leaning on a bad tune that is very improvable

i've tuned a couple of those sprintex and they all got a nice torque curve even without your nice headers, if you need help with the tune i ' mhere

Sorry read after that you still have to install them
Yes header + e85 toally flatten the dip, even when tameing it down not to have excessive stress at low rpm

The 210 is limited to about 300whp/240tq with the 69mm pulley, intercooler, e85, header and intake. As long as you have a reliable tuner it will be more than ok with your plans. It sounds like it was not properly tuned if the dip is still there; the kit provides a nice flat curve regardless of header. If anything, maybe look at getting a better clutch to hold the power; especially if it’s a pre17 that might end up having a TOB issue.
I would suggest a good tuner regardless; I am tuned by Mike at Xerolimit (Moto East) and he is probably the best for the kit. Otherwise try Zach at CSG or Bill at Delicious Tuning. Additionally, look at adding a ceramic coating to your header to keep the temps down; a vented hood, or hood vents, also aid in heat dispersion. The intake pipe should also be wrapped with heat reflective tape (easy $10 fix). Lastly, get an oil cooler as well to keep the oil temps down; this will ensure your oil doesn’t wear out prematurely from the excess heat coming from the supercharger. If you haven’t already, switch out the plastic fittings on the back for brass ones to prevent leaks and double check the oil level in the unit. Hope this helps

Fantastic, thanks a lot for all your input. I'll look into the brass fittings but otherwise I'm all good on everything you said.
