@Thefalls oh okay they are really out of the bumper. I'm gonna test with the muffler of my buddy if with a 13-16 muffler would put them out like yours.

Thanks a lot buddy

Thanks again @Thefalls, I was able to "solve" the tip issue !

With the "kouki" model (2017 MY) in North America they have replaced the rear muffler and the midpipe for a similar design with better materials. For a weird reason, they shorten the length of output exhaust pipe by 2".

I already bought and installed JDM tips, but they didn't quite do the job as @Thefalls pointed out.

A close friend who still have is "13 FR-S had his OEM muffler that was taking dust, he let me test fit it and it does the trick ! I'll do a DIY for that, I still need to make some minor adjustment. I had to use my OEM USDM tip to look good, otherwise the JDM tips were out of the bumper by 2".

I've installed my black mirror caps, really like the look. When I've installed the TRD vent trim I always find the white mirrors caps to pop out a little bit too much. Now they blend with all the black accent, and the real GR have them too soo... lol

I've installed too my silver stitched OEM hand brake boot, really stupid that they didn't put them into the "base" 86. Anyway now the interior is complete. I loooovve the GR steering, still can't believe I've found it !

Are you aware Toyota also has a parking brake assembly with the matching white stitched handle too? I swapped both handle and boot years ago and would do it again today if I got another car. Definitely corrects the OEM screw up. Speaking of screw ups, my 08 Z06 was worse though, coming with red stitched seats and a silver stitched console, I had to swap seat covers from an 09 to get everything to matching silver.

The car looks great. I like the mirror color.

Yeah I know they do the hand brake it self to but since I've replaced my knob with one without silver stitching, it kind of fit. Stitched boot, no stitch handbrake arm and shift knob.

That's weird that you had 2 color stitching, nice factory messup lol.

Thanks for your comment buddy

Summer time is back ! The car is out since start of April, didn't drive it like I wanted but all the maintenance stuff is done.

I've redid the alignment since it was wayyyy off. When we did it the old school way with my buddy, the suspension wasn't properly set on it's weight which resulted in a bad alignement. While on the alignment ramp, I've put back the camber specs to a more street friendly, -2.4 at the front and -2.0 at the rear.

I've removed the Bayson R rear diffuser... Each damn year I have to remove it, replace the double face tape, while I really took care of not damaging the paint I always end up messing up the paint, repaint it. It never hold properly, I would have to drill the visible portion of the bumper to make it stick but I really don't want to! I'm currently waiting for my new rear esthetic part to arrive from Japan.

Oh and I've found good looking center cap for the RPF1... from Ali express lol. They have a fake C/F backing a little bit like the real RPF1 center cap.

Warranty ended on February 2022, the car is already 5 year old

Some random pictures of the start of the season. I've changed the wheels on the daily for a set of Motegi Battle.

Just got a little shipment from Japan. The box didn't survive the trip but the parts inside are intact. I was quite scared to open it lol.

New parts are installed, rear Modellista spats. Was tricky to find them, since they are already discontinued in K1X white. Got lucky on Croooober, I've find a never used set.

On the Modellista spats, the seal between the body and the car is white. Since paint match on the part isn't perfect, having a white seal between the bumper and the lip accentuate the paint that don't match. I've replace the seal for a gray one similar on what it's installed on my TRD side.

Love the look, was tricky to install for all the body line to line up perfectly but the result is there.

From the pictures color match looks good. Maybe a light compound of the old bumper paint may make it closer.

Already done, it was worst before the compound lol. I guess running cat-less yellowed the bumper.

That's looking good!

Nice one on the Modellista rear spats.

Im yet to find some good black spats to go on with the STI side skirts and black front lip.

A slight yellowish tinge on the rear bumper. Try not to use any wax on that bumper as it gives a yellow hue to it. For a crisp gloss better use some sealant.

Time to get some driving done

Thanks ! I don't know were you are in the world lol but I might have something for you, I'll PM you.

For the rear bumper, yeah its a bit yellowish. The front bumper is similar. On those picture the bumper was polished and a ceramic coating was done after that. The side skirts are similar so I'm good with it.

So here we are again...

Just kidding!

A friend of mine got his hand on the new GR86 and he let me drive it. We jumped on my 86 right after, on the same road. My opinion on it:

- The power is really linear, so much that you really got to drive the "old" one right after to feel the power difference.
- Torque, torque is really improved and you won't need to rev the sh!t out of it on normal driving/spirited driving.
- Sound, he installed it's old TRD exhaust from the FR-S and I must say the 2.4 sound great. A deeper sound, less it's about to explose when you rev it lol.
- I can't really speak about the suspension since he already installed his Fortune auto coilovers from his old FR-S. The car feel's honestly about the same as my car but I really didn't like the sagging from the Fortune Auto.
- Interior... Feel too much Subaru in there, so empty. Not my taste. The Subaru startup "ding ding ding" annoy me soo much!
- Exterior, wasn't sure for the BRZ but the GR86 look so great! All the details in the body work, fenders bumpers, functional vents I simply love everything. He got the high trim level and the rear wing is damn nice.

My conclusion: Like I already told, I'm more than happy they still goes on with the production and sale of this car. It's a pretty niche car and somehow they manage to keep it alive.

In short, I love it really much, things I don't like are minimal and I would be able to live with it.

Would I trade my 86 for that? Nop, but if for whatever reasons my car is a total loss I wouldn't mind have the new GR86.

Loving the exterior/aero choices on this car. First time I've seen those rear spats and love em. Really making me miss my 1st gen .
