I've been playing AC: Valhalla and MS Flight Sim on the 49" ultrawide monitor MomHawk gave me for a gift. I can say that for gaming it is worth every penny.

You're using that large of a monitor on a desktop?

Yes, it's the equivalent of two 27" monitors side by side. It isn't 16:9 if that is what you were thinking, it is 32:9.

Lol wow. Yeah, not a big fan of curved screens myself, but glad it's working out for you.

Honestly, if I don't stand over it and look down I can't tell it's curved when sitting in front of it. The curve on these is very subtle.

If you're really just trying to keep up with the times and upgrades, an AMD 78003XD, for pure gaming, is the best out there from what I've read. or even a 58003XD.
So far it's only TLOU on PC that's really hamming it up on VRAM issues. But also I see it as a reason to jump to AMD for a bit. I don't think my set up is 'obsolete' just games seem to be exceeding quicker. I'm sure the 5600x will bottleneck it a little but I should be ok for now. I don't plan to ditch the SFF set up though so I'm sure I can do a new CPU and build at the end of the year.

TLOU just like Hogwarts legacy are really good examples of what bad optimization is. Especially on last gen NVIDIA cards. If anything you should be looking into upgrading into a 6950-6900XT instead of a much pricier option like new gen.

Ironically, the 6900xt has a higher PSU requirement than a 7900xt or xtx lol which is why I'm leaning towards them to keep my little gold rated 750w alive. Though I guess I could get one and an better psu and still spend less than a 7900xtx.

Upgraded to 32GB of 3600Mhz RAM. Not because I really need to, but just cuz I'd been playing with the idea for a few months now.

Pondering whether a 5800x3d is worth it. For the stuff I do 20% gains are common I guess... Already on fast memory... Wasn't planning an upgrade this cycle but this is tempting.

If I were to upgrade from my 5600x, I'd do the 5800x3d, simply because it's way cheaper than going AM5. And it's performance is still very good compared to the 7000 series. It's probably what I will do if my 7900xtx ends up being bottle necked too much by my Ryzen 5.

I would say if your main focus on PC is gaming, the 5800X3D is a great choice if you're coming from a 5600 or lower tier 3-Series AMD CPU.

haha im still on a R5 2600X and i do plan on going to a 5800X3d at some point in time.

I just hope when that time comes the 5800X3D hasnt been discontinued for several years lol.

Last time that happened to me the last viable chip from one generation was when i had a Phenom II X4 955 and wanted to get into a Phenom II X6 1100T before having to overhaul everything.

Except by the time i was willing and ready to upgrade we were well into the Ryzen 3000 era (i went with a 2600X because it was near end of life and pricing was favorable for it)

Not just gaming, but those are the places I care about performance... I have a 5600x and just about everything else is up to supporting the x3d (x570, x4 m2 drives, 32gb 3600@14/14/14/28 timing...) Even have enough cooling. Is it worth $300 though... Maybe.
