Yeah not sure why the times are slow, or the 10 mph difference in top speed!?
MPGs were 36 something and 39 something (auto) on combined.

The tax on the auto that I'm getting will be 170 a year. A bit nicer than my S2000 at 280 or whatever it is for 6 months summer use!

Well I would expect the auto to be a bit slower since its not a dual cutch type and you cant rev up the engine for a quick launch. But I think Toyota are quoting 7.6sec because it makes it a lowers the insurance category (which is not a bad thing for me, im only 27 and have 3 years no claims) I wonder if the 3MPH off top speed is because of the spoiler?

Combined 36MPG is dissapointing too! I mean im still gonig to buy one, but its a shame that all the press coverage was saying 40MPG+ and 0-62 in 7 seconds.

I hope those MPG number are a little bit low otherwise, I will be in the £195/year TAX band. I guess its not so bad since the car comes with its first years TAX (£275)

yeah i expected the auto to be slower to 60, just losing 10mph off top end .. although as my mrs said "when are you ever going to do more than 130 anyway?"... true enough i suppose!

a bit more info.. and looks like we may get our cars before a demonstrator is in (some) showrooms!!:

Fuel Consumption (MPG)
Combined Urban Extra Urban
Manual 36.2 27.2 44.1
Automatic 39.8 29.4 49.6

• Pre-sales for the GT86 commenced in December 2012

Customer deliveries will commence from the 1st July 2012.

Centres will receive a demonstrator vehicle by the 9th July 2012.

A showroom vehicle will be delivered mid July 2012.

Whilst I get the design ethos of making it a fun car rather than a quick car on paper it is very poor.

I was reading through this month's EVO and I saw in the Geneva article:

VW Polo Blue GT 1.4 turbo petrol 0-62 in 7.9s but 62.8mpg

I know it is hardly a competitor but for an eco hatchback to be quicker (than the auto) yet still offer nearly half the fuel consumption shows how far things have moved on the in the last couple of years.

36.2mpg is 181g/km so £215 pa (£325 for first year) which means it will struggle vs its rivals and may end up in a few years time like the Nissan 350z/370z is now.

I think it likely that the 0-62 time is very conservative. It may have been done using to lower the insurance group. Autocar jsut reviewed it saying toyotas official specs as 0-62, 7.7Secs and 40.9MPG. Could be the auto I guess?

Im not planning on using it that often so the MPG doesnt bother me too much, but the 0-62 time does a little bit. I think 6.9sec is more realistic given the cars weight, drvietrain losses and torque curve.

I wonder if the EU standards set different conditions, such as: car must have a full tank of RON95. I would think RON95 might knock 10HP off this engine.

Toyota confirms the price for UK extras:

No speak of Metallic or Pearl White being a cost option!

Good point! I bet they are though. My dealer said red was the only non-cost colour. Hope he's wrong.

I think the bonnet/roof decals will be the ones shown on the red gt86 at the press event in Spain (look up Chris Harris' excellent video on Pistonheads).

No idea on the side decals.

Just noticed Toyota.co.uk site updated with latest info. Metallic paint £450

Hmmm, sweet. I kinda like those but I would have to see it in person on a car first. I might go for it if its a carbon fiber look.

The Toyota website also shows that the gear ratios are different between MT and AT, hence the big difference in top speed.

Yeah the auto has a smaller final drive ratio to which gives it longer gearing. 6th gear is just too long for it to get past 130MPH with the torque it has on offer.

In the manual it will hit 130MPH at the red line in 5th gear, but 6th is shorter such that it can keep going.
