Is this a good buy???
Hey everyone, i'm about to buy my first 86 and was wondering if this was a good deal or not. ( https://detroit.craigslist.org/mcb/c...311070783.html ) Its a 2013 BRZ Limited with 50,000 miles but with a rebuilt title. He's willing to accept $13,300 but nothing lower. Is this worth it or should I pass and wait for another one. The car was professionally repaired by a Subaru dealership with pictures and documents provided. The car has an intake, UEL headers, Open Flash Tune, and an exhaust with a couple other bits here and there. What do you guys think? Thanks

Do yourself a favor and never buy a car with a rebuilt/salvage title unless you're building a race car. Also, that car with a clean title would probably catch around that price.

Way too much for a salvage title. Keep looking.

Never buy a car which has pictures of itself at a gas station.
A very old adage: If something in life seems too good to be true, it most likely is too good to be true. Last edited by ToySub1946; 10-26-2017 at 04:59 PM. |

I had a rebuilt Mazdaspeed3, I wouldn't necessarily say to stay away from rebuilt cars, but that one is overpriced. Rebuilt cars are generally worth 60-75% of their would-be value if they had a clean title. KBB says it is worth about $15k clean, so like the others have said here, it's actual value is somewhere between $9-11k. If you really like it just offer 9.5, he will snear initially, but if time is on your side you will likely get it at the right price. He has an uphill battle selling a rebuilt car, especially since it is still worth more than what that car's target audience typically has lying around in cash...there aren't many financing options for rebuilt cars.

As others have mentioned, I'd stay away from that car because: * rebuilt title * it's been heavily messed with * it's over priced I hope you find a nice one ....... they are fun cars ...... humfrz |

Thanks for the help everyone. I’ll offer him $9.5k - $10k and if he won’t do it, then on to the next one. Hopefully I can find a nice one.

Keep looking. Why invest 10K when it's a salvage title. In the long run you'll be spending more $$$$$ to fix it should problems arise. Just my 2¢

Take the car to a mechanic and have him do a pre-purchase used car inspection. They put it on a lift, read codes, check the trans and lots of other stuff. Don't trust what people say and definately DON'T trust the stealership.

I wouldn't touch a rebuilt car, I wouldn't touch a modified car, I wouldn't touch this car. keep looking IMO.
