Trailer Hitch/Bike Rack

I tried searching without much luck… Does anyone have insight as to whether there will be a trailer hitch or something available for mounting a bike rack on the new generation? I am really wanting to upgrade, but nervous about this as I bike a fair amount.

Oh wow, cool that you knocked that out so quick. Do you have any feeling for whether the type of hitch that hangs out the bottom of the bumper will work on/carry over to the new car? Anyhow if it’s possible, it will probably be on the market before I get a car.

I see Torklift has a bottom-access hitch with a removable receiver. That would be nice for a bunch of reasons, assuming it’s reasonably possible to remove it without pulling the bumper skin off.

I'm not sure that any of those type of hitches will be compatible. Not because of mounting points, but because of how much the newer bumper sticks out compared to the older style. It may work, but I'm not sure.

I spoke with a representative from TorkLift about their EcoHitch Stealth which I like because it is stealth as the name implies.

They advised at this time that they do not have a confirmed fitment for the 2nd gens. They rely on locals near Western Washington to test the fitment. I would offer them my vehicle for testing but I live in the east coast.

I emailed Draw-Tite and they said that there are no current plans to develop a hitch for the current gen car. Sigh…

I'm east coast as well, would like to do their stealth hitch. One thought I had was to contact them and offer to trial the current design hitch on my car - assuming they're not already on it by then. If it worked with little or no modification, great! I bought a hitch. If not, send back. Either way give detailed feedback sort of thing.

I have a 1st gen drawtite that I kept from my 1st gen, and an actual 2nd gen GR86 delivered last week. For now I am too lazy to remove the bumper on the new car...but I hope to test soon.

Ouch. How about Kurt? This could be a deal-breaker for us.
