Supposedly, Toyota was showing the car to select people, which served as a basis for the yellow render. Although, someone else on the forum called it wrong, suggesting the front bumper and lights were "different."

As for the red render, maybe they saw this camo car and updated the render to match. Looking at the lower bump, the red car and the camo car are closer, but the camo car still has a lot of the current 86 in it.

Still could all be BS.

The camo car pic isn’t working.

LOL Wishful thinking I guess!
I read 2021, wrote 2021 but in my head I was thinking 2020.

A few visual changes and 20HP if true, is really not worth it to upgrade unless you just want a new car. You will take a hit on resale or trade in of your old car. I imagine the driving experience will be very similar for 99% of drivers. Sure if you are tracking power helps and if you are in the market for a new car it is attractive. I will own my 2016 soon. Can’t see paying for a new one with such small changes. Even if I could sell mine for 18k and buy one for 28k. I can do alot with 10k. Plus add in wasted money on taxes and fees. The taxes alone is a BBK. And it’s still slower than my 04 WRX. Never say never, just have to wait and see what’s available.

Same car with +20hp would make me interested if it was due to greater displacement or some physical update. I'd have to weigh that against having an OG '13 though.

You're probably pretty optimistic on that pricing once this model (assuming it's available) becomes available next year.

Right now a 2016 BRZ on Kelly Blue Book, private sale is valued at $18.5K with an estimated 30 days to sell. Trade in value is $16.1K

That's assuming you have the best of the best (HyperBlue series with 40,000 miles and Excellent condition).

Yep I don't see them going down in price for the super car that the clickbaits keep promising. Even the light refresh they say now will not be cheaper.

There are really three ways the first gen could go depending on what the second turns out to be.

Second rocks and is a far far better car = A glut of first gen on the market and plummiting prices.

Second is just meh and no reall improvement = First gen cars will continue to depreciate at the current curve.

Second is a total piece of crap and nobody that loved the first is remotely interested = First shoots up in value and each one that get's wrecked (that Opie and Dave don't fix up) forces the value up a bit more.

There is a fourth scenario I guess. They stop making any gen and the value of what exists is anybody's guess.

I do not see any plausible condition that would make the next gen a far better car and still get anything like the current resale value from the first.

Now I am even more likely to keep my 16 BRZ. But I love the car, so no big deal.

On a similar note: I saw a totally stock 2013 FRS in a parking lot this morning... I did a double take and walked over for a closer look!

About 9 out of 10 I see here (so about 6 months worth) are bone stock in appearance including the wheels.

That's typically the case for sporty cars - enthusiasts always feel like everybody is heavily modding their cars, and that's an easy impression to get when you're participating in an enthusiasts' community. But the vast majority of people buy their cars and never touch them (and probably service at the dealer to boot).

EXACTLY. Nobody here believes me when I tell them that the guys that mod are the minority around here. Next is in California though so the ratio of modded to stock could be very different there.
