It is a video but since the "information" is based on torquenews which was based on Bestcar I will include it.

Just need one more to meet my goal.

I really wanted to like the new CiVic R Hatchy but there was no real Handbrake available to compliment my winter FWD drifting style…

If the angle of the hatch does not increase the length too much I would not think that rigidity would be compromised. I always liked the CRX’s & 944’s on track… but I only had the Honda budget.

I like the term “super capacitors”. Maybe the new marketing badge to put on the trunk to replace “Turbo” which is so 80’ish! Reminds me too much of a Renault Fuego.

I cry when I want to do some winter shenanigans.

I’m with you on that!

Every time I had my other H car in the service bay I passed my time in the showroom & I Sat in a TypeR 5 times since they came out... Never gone on a joy ride as between the overdone rear looks & no Mechanical handbrake and a salesperson saying there was too much power for a winter drive my dream of a TypeR slowly evaporated…

Winter is manual handbrake heaven and a ABS defeat godsend.

The electric motors at the front axle will add lots of weight anyways, and since it'll be FWD the rear is just along for the ride so I'd support a hatchback configuration for sure.

You jest, but I think it’s very likely this GR Corolla we’re getting will be hybrid.

All that torque will twist it like a pretzel unless they use the Toyota chassis.

You sure? I mean TNGA is a pretty awesome platform. I hear it's going to have 225ehp.. but that torque will be insane and could probably pull a train full of Pizza The Hutts.

Hmm not sure I'll wait to see the Bestcar article about the new TNGA FWD EV GRe86.

according to a well appointed source within toyota, they're going to use the TNGA FWD platform, but backwards, to maintain the RWD layout.

as a side benefit, the new platform will be rear-engined, with a computer controlled 4 wheel steering setup to make for better turn-in response.

why go through the trouble of making something worse then the current gen.
