Even a modded 86 can't keep up with a Formula 1 car ? What a piece of shit.

I'm selling mine tomorrow because of this shocking revelation.

You just need to work on being a better driver, then you can beat anything

It isn’t worth anything in resale value now that you understand how bad it is. You should probably just give it to me. Or better yet, pay me enough, and I’ll be willing to take it off your hands.

I am admittedly a novice, and I can tell that the Porsche driver was not as good of a driver. Yes, the 86 is lighter, so it can brake later, but the Porsche seemed to brake way too early, and his lines could have improved, as he wasn't using all of the track consistently enough, nor was he setting himself up for the corners as well. The Porsche wasn't really rolling on the power as well either, as there was loss of traction several times. The corner speed differences could have been the weight and balance of the 86 being better than the 911, or the 911 could have been on all weather tires and the 86 was on slicks; we just don't know.

Let's be honest, we know a 911 turbo would destroy an 86. I have a bar of boost on E85, and even with that type of power, I wouldn't expect my car to beat a 911 given all else being equal. There is a certain point when the car matters sometimes more than the driver, and then as speed and traction increases, it becomes much more about the driver. This is when there is more than enough traction and power for the driver's abilities, where the driver is the bottleneck in performance. This is where the bigger difference is the driver's abilities and their knowledge of the track more than the difference in cars. This is essentially what the video shows.
Sometimes it is not even competence that is the difference. Some people are just out there enjoying their car on track, you don't have to push it to have fun.

That or some people are on a cool down or warm up lap, while others are going all out, which is the point, that some people watch some youtube videos of an 86 passing "faster" cars and quickly conclude the 86 is better or whatever. It's good, but not that good.

Yes, I was just adding to your point more then countering it. The twin is a great entry level track car with the option to modify it as you grow with it, lots of people start out with may too much car at the track, and it slows their development as a driver. I just wish consumables were cheaper on the twin, engines are expensive and hard to find

It is not an "entry level" sports car. It is just not that much well suited for fast race tracks. Try to go in a tight curvy road, if you have one, and you'll see its virtue. Engine performance is the one side of sports driving, less weight with low center of gravity and chassis performance is the other side.

I enjoy faster tracks where I can maintain corner speed more

And it is entry level

I'm with @NoHaveMSG. It is as close to a new entry level sports car as they come.

These guys might not be drivers. Anyone can get on a track and go slow.

Entry level in a track YES. Entry level in a road NO. Main advantage is its low weight and its super low cog which has a result the much softer springs. This gives in real world scenarios, with uneven road pavements, a bigger mechanical grip. So, you can go faster comparing to others. In a race track you lose this advantage, because of the much better road quality.

Subaru has after all a bigger history and experience in rally

Anyone have guesses on what happened to the BRZ? The vibration.
