My guess is that chances are greater that it's a new exhaust manifold (header) and that the press got that part wrong. Most of what we've seen with rebuilt intakes in the aftermarket, netted nothing. A revised (not catless obviously) header could see major improvements in the torque dip (and even a little top end power).

Yeah, could be. The articles speculate the intake manifold though not the actual intake. Who knows though, it's all speculation. Would make sense for them to change the header to get rid of the dip, would be simple and cheap.
