My dealership won't sell it to customers. Its either I keep it and fix it, or give it to them and look for another toy

Got my bypass valve replacement and took it to a shop to do. Come to find out, whoever assembled this at edelbrock or wherever is an idiot. They over tightened and stripped 2 of the studs and shipped it out to me. Then after this known bypass actuator problem came around to me. This simple 20 minute job turned into a big headache. The bypass was stuck on and 2 of the nuts kept spinning but not coming off and no leverage to do much in that space.

Attached is the pic of the bypass with 2 stripped studs.

Those studs are made of al dente pasta. They could have stripped when the nuts were turned to take them off. Some of the softest 'metal' I've ever seen.

I really want this SC but Edelbrock just does not make it easy for me. I just got off the phone with them, I asked them what is being done about the bypass valve for new SC's. The guy on the phone said that was to technical of a question for him to answer. I suggested that perhaps if he became more knowledgeable with the product he was trying to sell he may make more sales. Frustrating

you would think, eh? Good business practices appears to be an alien concept to some companies or at least the individuals working for them.

I mean, you did call a sales line to ask a pretty specific technical question. Did he know that there were problems with the actuator? It seems to be unique to the BRZ platform, they use that same actuator in all their other kits and it doesn't have the failure rate ours do. The number of BRZ units sold versus the number of other kits they sell for muscle cars must be tiny. I wouldn't have a problem with him not being able to answer it as long as he offered to transfer you to tech support.

I called their technical support line a few times and they always managed to transfer me to someone who has no knowledge on the 1556 sc kit, even though I typed in the part number. But Tony is quite knowledgeable and knows about the 1556 kit quite well!

Now this I did not know, I thought it was a problem across the board. So, therefore, i'm now wondering if no changes will be made to this kit since, because it does not effect enough vehicles.

How can I tell what a "Current Kit" is or are we saying everything with that part number fits? I've got a 2017 Manual

how hard is it to remove/clean the air filter after everything is installed? Does it require the bumper to come off?

Bit of a hassle due to the amount of hex screws, but no bumper removal needed.
