I live right off of 280 and occasionally at night people like to revbomb as they drive through the area on the freeway since it's so straight and flat. A lot of the time it's so easy to tell it's people in M-whatevers with popcorn tunes. Sounds completely awful.

We did that when we had to replace the downstairs HVAC recently (though it was already a 92% unit)... upstairs was replaced a few years ago on the coldest day of the winter - daytime high of two below zero (F). So upgrading the chimney for the furnace as required by anything over 80% efficient was not an option. We did upgrade the A/C stuff and multispeed and all that to help summers (upper floor that's evidently bigger savings...) Cost didn't seem to change notably in either case.

Who knows. Shoddy work and poor design is probably the bigger deal... but also not really worth the cost to fix.

If there was something wrong, probably done wrong by the restaurant.

Every McDonald's fry served since 1969 comes from the Simplot about 4 miles from my house. Also every fry from Burger King, and others too. Not hard to miss, about a mile long building on Simplot boulevard.

Cool major success story..

"J.R. Simplot became the exclusive supplier of fries to McDonald’s restaurants on little more than a handshake with Ray Kroc and the relationship of respect and trust between the two companies continues to this day."

Simplot is an agricultural giant. To say they are rich is an understatement. They give a lot back to idaho.

Very poor on average here also. I have had the odd good ones at different restaurants. I bet the owner or the cook is anal about their fries.

You mean the two guys that walked with $1,000,000.00 after taxes each in 1961, when the average annual salary was $5,700, who both said they had no regrets selling?

How did they survive.

They never would have been more than day to day, just making it small business owners without Kroc.

Ever hear the story of Sriracha? It's actually quite interesting.

Quite well. David Tran is from the bay area (well, not originally). Started selling it out of his car. I believe to this day he has never advertised. Made the mistake of not trademark the name.

In every Vietnamese restaurant and pho place I've ever been in the bay area it was always referred to as Rooster sauce. There is always a bottle in my fridge. A must for pho, won ton soup. I even usually put a bit in my miso soup, and in my fried rice and broccoli beef recipes.

Thought another brand would be more popular around San Francisco

Yes that's usually the case. However, the movie "The Founder" gets it right about 99% of the time. Including getting screwed out of their 0.5% royalty earnings.
"...After the brothers refused to give Kroc the original restaurant, he cheated the brothers out of the 0.5 percent royalty agreement they had been getting, which would have been valued at $15 million a year by 1977 and as high as $305 million a year by 2012..."

I was never a fan of the Golden Arches food. Since the movie came out I refuse to eat anything from there. I also stopped eating at Harvey's in 1983 and after my last A&W Teen Burger I won't be going there anymore either.
I first ate at A&W in summer of 1958 and it's been my go to happy place. Lots of great memories. However, they have No MSG'd and Gluten free'd the food to death!
