strut tower braces made out of bamboo?!?

Just kidding. I made that up. I'm starting to get bored with the FT-86 already. It looks like it is going to turn out to be a plain jane Celica replacement. If Toyota or Subaru had anything better planned for it they'd leak more info.

i feel you on some of that, but this car is still 1 full year or 2 away from being in production.. you leak too much info, and then everybody has your idea.. just think of Fox television.. they hear about program ideas from other stations and then jump on it and slap together a crew and throw it on tv before other tv stations put theirs out

Celica replacement? I hope so thats the best car out of toyota in the past 35 years! Lets not forget that Celcia came before Supra. If they call it a Celica then Im buying two! One for the wife and myself. Sweet.

Man, I tell you what, I've learned over the past few months that Celica nerds are CRAZY loyal to that model name....

even after Toyota butchered it for a good 17 years straight.

I'm not a Corolla Fanboy.

Unless said Corolla's are '87 and older, then they peak my interest.

Nor am I going to sputter out the highly debatable, highly opinionated statement that the AE86 is the BEST car Toyota ever made in the past 35 years.

Though its definitely in the top 3.

Its ok, because if it's released as a Celica, it will be in name only, and not in spirit. We'll all know the car that inspired the FT's creation, and we'll all know that the name 'Celica' was nothing more than a sales booster.

If that's what it takes for this car to sell in droves, get better in the next generation and inspire Toyota to build a Supra/MR2, fine by me.

p.s. Already told you before, the celica was lightweight, rwd & driver oriented long before the corolla AE-86 existed.

:happy0180:

p.p.s how did we get back to the name when the tpoic is about bamboo strut towers? Strong, but too flexy

I prefer they give this car a new name but with the "86" in the concept's name I'm thinking they have to have Corolla in there somewhere. Maybe they'll call it the new Corolla Coupe GT-S? *shrugs*

Then only enthusiasts like us would buy them and it would die a swift painful death. Have you seen a corolla lately? Commercial suicide to put it in the name.

How many times do we have to go over this name thing again before the car is released?

Back on topic. I say they should use resin impregnated spider weave silk for the strut tower brace.
