Cool

Thanks for the kind words guys

For the short sighted folk that seem to be bickering and claiming that twincharging with a positive displacement blower wont work - you really might need to repeat physics at school

I was linked to people arguing that this wont work, on facebook.. While you might mean well - your assumptions and basic understanding of the physics behind this are flawed. I can understand it is a difficult concept to understand, but you can easily simplify it. Dont over think and over complicate things!

(See attachments for people's fb arguing over it)

Those who say that the 'blower will only put out a set flow for a set rpm', that is not the case if the input pressure increases - eg if you go where the atmospheric pressure is higher or lower - the SC will compress whatever air is given to it.

If you increase the atmospheric pressure, the blower will multiply *whatever* is fed into it.

If you feed it 10psi above atmospheric pressure, and the blower is set to compress 10psi, then you will get:

Turbo:
10/14.7psi = 0.7 pressure ratio + atmospheric = 1.7x

Supercharger:
10/14.7psi = 0.7 pressure ratio + atmospheric = 1.7x

1.7x1.7 = 2.89 - 1 atmosphere = 1.89x atmospheric pressure = 27.8psi when 10psi is fed into a 10psi blower.

I can understand what Wes is *trying* to say, but in short, he is plain wrong.

A turbo is creating positive pressure on the SC, just the same as it creates positive pressure on the engine when the valves are open - the supercharger just re-compresses the already compressed air. Even if you dont want to take my word for it, there are HUNDREDS of people that have done this before me, there are even FACTORY CARS and RALLY TEAM CARS that are twin charged.

When he says it 'offers no benefits', that's quite simply a silly thing to say. This large turbo would take til 4000+ rpm to spool to 25psi normally, with the sc, we will see full boost at half that! It will produce boost from IDLE.

It is true that a straight turbo will be FAR simpler, FAR cheaper and lighter, AND a straight turbo has potential to more efficiently make peak power. BUT this is being built to meet what *I* want, not to meet what you 'speculate', with no proof aside from hearsay and misinterpreting other people's research.

Part of the reason for this build is to NOT be practical, to deliberately do something different and eye catching for promotional purposes and to showcase our company and our friend's companies who helped develop this setup.

Your misinterpreted research is all well and good, but we have actually DONE it (check Forged Performance's JET86 build thread), we have not just read about it.. Practical real world results trump incorrectly interpreted internet research.

I can show you a video of the car with TWO boost gauges, one after the turbo and one after the supercharger.. I will run 9psi or so out of the turbo, and a 10psi pulley on the supercharger and you will see a 25psi manifold pressure - will THAT make those who doubt this project reconsider, or will they just go quiet and not admit defeat.. I am interested to see their reaction..

Here is some literature for the naysayers..

[ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twincharger"]Twincharger - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia[/ame]

After you have spent some time reading the wikipedia entry, rethink your approach, and consider that BOOST is merely a measure of how much air is NOT getting into the engine.. If it were as you claim, then a turbocharger wouldnt work either.. All a turbo is doing is increasing the effective atmospheric pressure before the throttle body..

The physics part you stated is describing what happens when you compound boost. The one that is more applicable is limit of compression, I.e. phase change to liquid under compression and you are no where near it.
Arguing on the internet over physics never ends well, the majority of people are dumbasses.

Well unless we intend to boost to 3000psi, I think we are fine about keeping the air as a gas

And yes, it's like hitting head against a brick wall, people just seem to be all too quick to mock what they don't understand. Even showing practical examples of it ACTUALLY working don't seem to be enough to disprove their internet research.. *shakes head*

Used plastidip, has lasted well

There's another brand out here called 'EasySkin' which im not sure if you guys have in the USA yet.. Does same thing.

So badass man I love the idea of the twincharger, really awesome work in there. Also sounds amazing, very unique with the supercharger wine and turbo spool haha
