thatīs the Magazine "AutoBild". Their mother, "Bild" ("picture") is the german pendant to the english "Sun". That much to the quality of their contents.

Translation:

Compact-Athlete with Boxer-Heart

First Impression:
+ Agile Handling
+ Fair Price
+ Attractive Design
- Rather Simple Interior Materials
- Weak Initial Acceleration

This is New:
Everything. The 2+2 with RWD goes on sale in May 2012 - as the only sports coupe with a boxer motor, that's not called Porsche. Apart from the Subaru BRZ the compact athlete is also available as the Toyota FT-86 and (only in the USA) the Scion FR-S.

This is how it Drives:
The two liter four cylinder boxer in the front has an aluminum cylinder head with Toyota direct injection and achieves 213 PS at 7000 RPM. In view of the humble 1270 kg curb weight this is completely sufficient. From 3000 RPM the quick revving four cylinder pulls hard and doesn't stop until the limiter. The weak initial acceleration is compensated by the short first three gears. The BRZ takes curves with mild understeer, but throttle lift off produces mild rotation. The interior is plain. Nice: as in a Porsche the tachometer is in the middle.

Buy?
Fans of quick sports cars with boxer motors and RWD have to buy - especially if it starts at 30000 Euro.

Please DO get that understeering, open differential, glass tranny, ringland failure-prone, ugly, fat, fail wheel drive POS.

Even if the price is the same as a WRX, the FT-86 will be chosen by those who actually care about car dynamics.

30000euros works out to be about Ģ26300 uk pounds so a bit more then the targeted and estimated 25k

Guess that's the exchange rate from the yen as Subaru now in the uk have gone up so much in price in the last 2 years

So if it's 6k more then the Toyota subaru might have a fight on their hands selling it for 27% more so they are going to have to really load it up with more equipment as 15bhp more and maybe a 0-60 of 6 rather the 0-60 of 7 is quite a difference so what about the all important mid range ?
We have had a great week for info thanks to this great website

Don't get too excited, the FT isn't even for sale yet...

There's enough room for both of them in my garage.

Form the article: 1270 kg Leergewicht

Leergewicht translates literally to Empty Weight. I'm not sure if Leergewicht = curb weight in German or empty weight. We need an actual native German car enthusiast to clarify. (enc0re, if you are an actual native German speaker, please chime in )

Ditto.

I suppose the Lancer Evolution, STi, Nissan GT-R, Audi R8, Porsche 911 Turbo and the entire Lamborghini range are all fail wheel drive then.
