Scratches on interior trim

Is it just me or does the interior of the BRZ scratch really f-ing easy.

This is not my first new car, I've had a couple of new Jeep Wranglers (2007/2008) and been in new rentals....

Maybe I just love it too much.

It's not just you.

The silver painted items on my 08 STI did the same thing. It's part of why I'm probably going to convert (some of) my interior to the base level black pieces or cover it in vinyl. I'd rather have scratchless, but plain looking plastics than scratched fancy ones.

The good news is that it appears (to me) that the silver painted items are the only ones that are scratch prone. I had an 04 WRX and the entire door panels were scratch prone... That was super frustrating.

The many joys of modern living with plastics

My last 2 cars.. 2004 Echo HB: Decent plastic in the interior didn't scratch easy. 2009 Yaris HB: Much cheaper plastic that scratches very easily...

The plastic in the Yaris looks nicer just no where near as durable a finish.

Not expecting much better for the BRZ..

The interior center console will scratch pretty easily - wasn't paying attention but I have a larger friend that had issues getting the seat belt fastened and managed to hit the console with the metal part of the buckle, scratched it up pretty badly. If I remember later I'll get some pics to show what I mean.

There were already scratches on the interior console when I picked up my car from the dealer. They tried to get their detail team to fix it, but apparently it wasn't a quick fix.... They did offer to fix it or reimburse me if I got it fixed in the future, but while it's annoying at first I guess after a bit you just kind of live with it.

One of my biggest complaints with the car, everything in the interior scratches and scuffs easily especially any textured plastic piece including the steering wheel. No way to really fix it either.

Ya the doors are long, so in a parking spot they only open so far. I got shoe scrapes on my door panels aswell. It really pisses me off that a side of a rubber shoe can scrape that hard plastic.

I've had my brz limited for about 3 months, and there is no damage to the interior except the scratch in the back seat from the fat **** window tint guy. Im pretty careful getting in and out but it is nearly impossible to not hit the lower side with my shoe so it does get dirty, but nothing that doesn't wipe away with some apc.

Is there a Fix? Yes:

Stronger arms (must work out more) and not watch TV/access internet so much.
