Kiske to ship the muffler to Seattle WA via DHL was ~$280 it arrived in 5 days. There was a cheaper Japan post shipping option for about ~$150. But during covid I know there is a lot of issues doing international shipping with Japan post. All in I got this muffler with shipping for ~$1,000 so this was still a better route to rather then buying from a US Vendor.

Picked up a new retainer bearing for the clutch today. My local turner recommended coating this piece with anti friction and heat resident treatments.

As a fellow STI/TRD enthusiast and TS wannabe, I must say I love your build so so much!

Switched to the Ohlins last fall (albeit MP22 5k spec) and I'm loving it! I'm sure you will/already love the Swift spring set up for the track.

Also doing Radium CC + JR Dual Rad/Cooler this spring too!

Thank you I threw you a follow on IG. We are just making the car Subaru always should have. I like your build is actually in a color the tS didnt come in. For me black and white are so boring for colors. Sounds like your build is pretty serious as well.

Followed ya back! I've come to embrace the Firestorm Red. I don't know if serious is the right term for me but I'm just having fun with it and doing it the right way

Will do. Scheduled for install next Friday.

HKS Clutch in hand arrived today finally from Japan.

Got the specific STI muffler cushions as well. Here is a side by side comparison of the OEM vs STI cushions. Replaced all 4 on the axleback portion.

Installed the STI muffler. Love the look. The noise is deeper which is nice. A little on the quiet side for my liking. But car has a good mix of intake/supercharger whine & Subaru Rumble.

I have not done back to back with this muffler setup on the cushions. But they were 5 bucks each so worth experimenting in my mind.

Picked up my car on Saturday with the new HKS clutch & flywheel installed.
Thoughts:
  • Pedal is noticeably heavier than before. Clutch engagement feel is good. Haven't done a long drive to see if the new heft to the clutch will actually be fatiguing.(note I've removed the helper spring in the clutch pedal and thus it would be easier on completely stock BRZ)
  • Car revs faster with the lightweight fly wheel. Had to adjust my heel toeing a bit as the engine blips faster/with less pedal input.
  • HKS left a warning of you may hear some chatter from the flywheel. My car has no chatter or I cannot hear it over the exhaust at idle.

Still learning the new clutch a bit. so just my initial thoughts. overall happy
unsure if its worth the extra cost over(JDM tax) other aftermarket solutions.

Been driving some more miles on the new clutch. Took some adjusting to as the window to engage the clutch is smaller with the lighter flywheel. Another point is that the engagement is more on/off and less gradually. This resulted in some stalls and clutch smell in my learning process. In other news my swift springs finally arrived from racecomp. I had Ishii motors install the swift springs on my Ohlins R&T setup. I got 450lb F/R springs. Car actually rides better with the new springs. I am really happy with the ride. Looking forward to my first track day on the setup.
