The K24 when built right is pretty damn tough to beat for sure.

That was me. I went with a bulletproof IAG shortblock and spent 11K turn key.
I toyed with the idea of going for something with more power or even throwing a turbo on however as far as reliability going much over stock power then you're dealing with a car that just isn't engineered for it for track duty.

The people that paid over $10 included all the labour to remove and replace the engine.
To do this swap you are looking at $9K just for the engine. There will still be all the costs invo;ved in a swap. Even doing it yourself you would be lucky to come in under $12K. If you had to pay somebody well...

For a track car I can see this swap happening. For a street car, forget it, not a chance you're going to get canbus fonctionning for cheap (or at all) so it'll be a hacked job with the engine running and the rest of the car electronics worked on miracles and facebook likes. For a track toy, I can see this as an interesting option to an LS swap. Also, the 305hp number is on the type R civic, which has catalytic converters and is factory tuned with emissions and fuel usage as a concern. In a full free flowing exhaust with an agressive tunning, this will probably be closer to 350 or so, putting it into v8 power territory.

Probably around 15K when all the smoke clears. Guys spend close to that or more I'd imagine on some FA20 builds.

You can get full CAN functionality. But it won't be cheap. Probably looking at spending a little more than current K swaps. There are a couple suppliers now for K swap kits I believe
