Haha... Nope. We're talking about driving out of town, somewhere peaceful next year.

For a few years we would take off in our Miata on our 2-3 week driving vacations throughout the Western US and Canada, about the first of July.

We NEVER found a "peaceful" place around the 4th of July. It seemed the smaller the town we were in - the more celebration was going on!-

I'm having surgery in the morning. I will be down for 2-3 weeks healing. I'm always nervous with general anesthesia. Hopefully things go well.

We were supposed to be camping this year but it fell through do to someone having a death in the family. It is a high mountain "lake" that is behind multiple locked gates we have access to. Would have been pretty nice up there.......until we showed up.

I wish you an easy time, Ho.

You can't be in any city or town to avoid fireworks. You gotta be in the countryside away from people. We heard fireworks, but they were distant. Soft pops you could hear outside only.

Lol this is true in my experience as well. Small towns have less going on every day, therefore special days are celebrated to the extreme.

And I don't know about there but even being in the country does not assure a fireworks free holiday around here. Maybe in place where they don't sell massive sets for $100 like they do here. Some of the farms around my cottage have shows that rival the big cities.
