Buying FR-S. Quick Questions.

Hello.

Im thinking of buying Scion FR-S in May/June and i have few questions for you guys.

Im just literally in love with this car ^^ and wanted to ask you what should know when buying used but certified FR-S. I watched thousands of videos, diy, sites, infos about FR-S and for me this car is perfect.

And if you guys could tell me how's the car is working for you cos i didn't had a chance to test drive it yet but going to do it soon and if there are any common problems with the car? Found few scions with the price 20-25k and less than 10k miles and ofc manual transmision so this is kinda good price for my budget.

Thanks.

There's a sub-forum for "issues."

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=72

I've only had a problem with my windows in subzero temperatures not wanting to open and close properly, and it only lasted for a little while. The car works well for me, but it's a bit rough with potholes and rough roads in general, but it's a sports car, and I expected these things.

Im running 13 BRZ w/ AT trans and im very pleased. Everything has worked great for me for 17,000 miles and 1 1/2 years. What kind of issues , if any are you expecting to run into?

Ask about the previous owners age. If there are any stupid cosmetic mods or a fart-can, be leery of the car. A low-mileage used FR-S/BRZ was either owned by a flat-billed asshat who abused it and then got it repo'd, decided it was too slow despite running at redline from day one, or someone who babied it. No in-between.

This site is full of people with "problems", none of which really are.

You'll most likely have the chirping issue

If you get a 2012 manufactured frs, make sure that the rear cam plate is not leaking and already been sealed

Minor issue is that the welds on the rear deck might start ticking at little bumps but there is a quick diy for that.

Make sure that the PDI was done properly too

That's all I can think of at the moment

Truly this car is a blast to drive even with those small issues

Good luck

Ok so what should i check when buying used FR-S? I'd never bought a car from a dealer before. Im 20 and 2 years ago i bought my first car but it was from private seller and 1995 Honda Accord with 100k miles on it so its a big difference.

Not many. My point being that the majority of low-mileage used FR-S/BRZ are likely to have been abused by retards.
"Baby" may have not been the right word, but "retard" surely is.

Any car that has been "riced" is automatically suspect. I know that's not the most helpful, but there has not been a car since the Civic more prone to being abused by idiots than this one.

I'd at least want a car with a service record. And insist on a solid warranty. We are just now getting to the point where things on a "normally" driven car are going to fail.
