TRD exhaust mid pipe

So I measured all the different sections of piping on the TRD exhaust and what I have found is the axel back portion is 100% 2.5" piping while the mid pipe is not, 2.25" or something around that. So my big question is would a dealer be willing to make a 2.5" mid pipe that fits the TRD exhaust? I would be really interested and I'm sure a lot of people who have the TRD exhaust would like to upgrade to full 2.5" piping. All opinions on what I should do are appreciated but I really like the TRD look so I would like to keep the axel back portion (plus I spent $950 on it). Thanks in advance.

Before anyone replies I just spoke with a local custom exhaust shop and they can make my mid pipe (and for a good price $$). I will continue to update the forum on my experience and don't give up hope on having the TRD look and it being functional. I am still open to replies and comments...

So to continue to share my findings, I have discovered by researching online that no one in tallahassee does mandrel bending so I don't know if I should still pursue the local exhaust guy. I really want this done right so again if anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate it. I'm from Tampa so maybe next time I go to visit my parents I can have someone in Tampa do it.

You can just search catback systems that retain the oem design of the mid pipe and ask them whether you can just buy the mid pipe portion. Otherwise I know Motiv will be coming out with a 2.5" mid pipe designed to bolt on to the oem axle back design.

Should just get the V1 from FT-86 Speedfactory. 2.5" midpipe, same design as the TRD and cheaper. Just doesn't come with the D shaped tips.

I don't have the OEM which attaches in a different location than the TRD exhaust. I also looked at the ft86 speed factory v1 and it doesn't line up with the TRD. Most manufacturers make those parts specific to their system (at least in my experience) and I haven't found one that lines up just right. Only option if I go with another company's mid pipe is to cut and weld, and in that case I might as well get it custom made. Please keep the suggestions coming and if I'm wrong please correct me.

Some companies have found that the stock midpipe isn't worth replacing with 2.5" as they gained 0 hp by doing so. You're better off upgrading the over pipe and front pipe.

Yeah I agree and I have read the same thing but I have the Motiv front pipe with HFC and I'm going to get the over pipe soon... I just don't like the idea that I'm increasing the diameter upfront but then constricting it again at the mid pipe. Thanks though for the educated suggestion (I should have mentioned the front pipe and over pipe originally)

I have a question, does anyone have the problem of the TRD midpipe where it bends around the LSD or rear differential area being too low? Around where the Midpipe connects to the muffler? I just lowered my car to around 2 finger gaps, and i realized the bend area is almost touching the floor.

This problem isn't quite "universal" amongst all 86 exhausts, but many of them sit low. I've seen the problem attacked in two ways. The first way was a catback that was specifically "low profile" but I cant remember the mfg (i know, not helfpul). The second way was @D K made a custom exhaust with oval shaped plumbing (i love this btw) here:

Disconnect your exhaust at the front pipe connection and look inside the TRD mid. It is NOT EVEN CLOSE to 2.25. It is a double walled section.
