I refused to use a Macs for years. In a fit of rage I formatted my Windows computer and installed Ubuntu and used it exclusively for about 6 months. It was ... ok. Probably as good as Windows, but there were too many things you either can't do without a ton of work or just can't do at all. I couldn't go back to Windows at that point, so I bought a Mac, knowing if I hated it I could sell it for 99% of what I paid.

I used it for a couple of years until my dumb ass decided to buy an expensive Windows laptop. I couldn't justify having 2 $2000 computer so I sold my iMac in 2010. I wanted another one since. Finally bought a 24" iMac a couple months ago and I'll have one from now on.

Don't buy a laptop without a new Haswell chip!

Seriously. There's only a few available now but the new Intel chips (code name Haswell) are the bees knees for laptop/tablet performance and battery life. Plus, the new Intel Integrated Graphics are "supposedly" going to be on par with many dedicated graphics boards.

The Haswell chips won't be called that. They are "4th Gen". So you will see i3, i5 and i7 followed by a 4xxx example: i7-4600.

I don't care if you go Mac or PC but the new 4th gen chips are worth waiting for.

This is pretty much what it comes down to. Do I want to pay more money for equal or inferior hardware so I can use Mac OS? Since I've been using Windows since Windows 3.1, the answer is no.

I have 9 Mac Pros and Macbook Pros or Airs. I also have 16 PC and PC laptops. So I'd say I'm not biased towards one type. When I compare computer to computer, the Macs are simply better. And I'm talking similarly priced computers like my Samsung Series 9 and Sony Vaio Z series laptops against my Macbook Airs. The Macs are easier to use, more intuitive, and a better overall value.

You can't just look at the prices; you have to look at it overall. For example, whenever I had problems with my Dells, I would have to have to wait for hours to talk to some tech in India. Plus they'd charge you for everything. Once I pointed out that the rubber foot on the bottom of my laptop fell off. They sent the wrong part and billed my account $22 for a quarter inch piece of rubber which I couldn't even use.

When the screen of my 17" Macbook Pro went bad, I drove it into my nearest Apple store where they apologized and replaced the $950 screen with a new one, EVEN THOUGH I was out of warranty.
