To answer the question, holding the OFF button on a 2017+ car disables everything, including the “brake LSD” the previous cars needed the pedal dance to disengage. This only applies to manual cars and not automatics.

See bottom row of chart on page 254 in a North American 2017 manual. Picture attached.

EDIT: Subaru's Electronic Brakeforce Distribution EBD remains on; this electronically varies brake force between front axle and rear axle under hard, sudden braking.

So, Track Mode keeps a minimum level of stability and traction control on - correct?

And holding the Trac button down for a few seconds = the old pedal dance, correct?

Does ice mode show up in post 17 cars in any use case?

This is how I understand it. Not sure about snow mode.

Has anyone experienced weird behavior from traction control when running big break kits? I noticed there are 2 different part numbers for the ABS module that controls traction control (Track Mode), 1 for non-Brembo equipped cars and 1 for Brembo equipped cars. I am trying to figure out what these modules could be doing differently and whether there could be issues running a BBK or PP Brembos with the wrong ABS module.

Not the PP Brembos but I have the Stoptech ST40 front bbk on 13MY with 17MY ABS module...no problems so far after 6 mo and maybe 5k miles.

Holding the off button does not disable EVERYTHING.

I can't tell you the name or function of what remains on, but if you get the car sideways far enough for long enough, you get a flashing light on the dash and the car intervenes. I've had it happen multiple times when intentionally drifting.
And a few times when autocrossing.

Funny, on my '17 with the 3-second-hold I've never gotten flashing lights at the track with *plenty* of super-slideways action and a couple of offs. Honestly I couldn't tell much if any difference between 3-second-hold and pedal-dance, so I didn't bother with the dance. Or with the big ABS fuse pulled, which I had to do at Watkins Glen last year after ABS control module malfunction. Except that without ABS, with cold mismatched f/r brake pads and cold Hoosier A7s I could lock up a front way too easily (doh)...
Seems like I've heard/read that "EBD" remains active, but if it does it's never interfered with me on-track.

The pedal dance turns off electronic brake force distribution.

I've also never had issues with the long press. Had the car drifting at full lock at the top of second on a snow course last year(for over an hour) and never had lights come on.

Also played with he pedal dance while I was there and did not notice a difference in that specific situation.

This is my experience too. Even with some snow drifting with huge sideways angle, there has never been any perceivable intervention.

Even on a 13 the long hold will not intervene regardless of how sideways you get.

I checked my videos from last season and unfortunately any of the angles that show the dash, the steering wheel blocks the area where the light is.
I do have onboard video from my buddies 2014, showing his traction light turning on multiple times within a single run, even with the 'long press'.

Also, in 'track mode'. Mine intervenes pretty quick. It's good, and I like it, but it seems to intervene sooner then the OP alluded to. I get maybe 5-10 degrees of angle and it'll jump in and straighten her out.

This ^^

Friends don't let friends use track mode. It's slow.

I agree. I just brought it up because my perception of how soon it intervenes is different then the OP.

I typically use track mode for daily driving and the 'long press' for all racing.
