OFT 2.0 Stage 1 93 Tune
Now that I've seen the thread on 2.0 MAPS, I am really close to pulling the trigger on an OFT. My car is all stock, so this would be my first upgrade of any kind.
Is there anyone out there who can show me a dyno comparison of stock ECU vs. the 2.0 OFT stage 1 93 tune? I want to see the lines of the torque and HP, and see how much of a difference I can expect. I'm assuming it won't be much, but I'm really not sure. |

K, I don't mind waiting it out. He's probably got a million questions to field right now. Can't bother someone over a free product (as regards MAPS)

Do it. Currently on 93 stage 1 with no mods. Really wakes the car up. Better gas mileage, no torque dip, linear throttle mapping, better noise from sound tube, smoother idle... The list just goes on and on.

OP, just to cage your expectations, there is still very much a torque dip on Stage 1. Until you do a power adder or headers, it will be there. Not to the same degree, but still pretty evident.

yup, the tune does not get rid of the torque dip, it's still there. The tune does help with extra umph.
to get rid of torque dip, it's best to get a good header and then tune with OFT OTS tunes, OR get a custom tune. |

Sounds like it'll be worth it. Is there at least a comparison dyno for the old stage 1 91/93 combination MAP? I know it wasn't a dedicated 93 MAP, but maybe it will serve me in my decision making process.

In worst senario, you would lose maybe $50 bucks if you dont like it because you can always sell it after unmarry it from your car, but I dont think that is gonna happen. That was my main reason I chose oft over ecutek. You can not sell tunes and license which will be stuck and locked to your car.

This would be awsome to see back to back on a stock car.

The tune will work but you will get knock, the ecu will then pull timing across the entire rpm range to protect the motor from damage. IAM will be reduced to less than 1. The ecu is quite agressive in pulling timing and generally pulls more than it needs to for safety. This results in a reduction in power and torque. The ecu is always trying to return the lost timing so it will cause the engine to knock then pull the timing again, it probably not the best situation to be in for long periods.
The 91 tunes are optimised for 91 and should in theory produce a better result ie power and torque wise than a 93 tune running on 91. If you run the correct tune for the fuel you are using their should be little or no knock and the ecu will not have to intervene to pull timing constantly. Once you put the correct fuel back in the ecu will no longer detect knock and the timing will be restored as well as power. see links below |
