How many miles on it? How long was it running on 3 cyls?

75k, it had 250 miles on it when we got it. It’s my wife’s DD and I might have used it for cone dodging from time to time.

My wife hit a Coyote December 13th, the insurance company picked Up the car December 21st (this was the last time I drove the car). The engine never had any signs of internal damage. Never had a CEL, it’s really been a great car. The body shop at the dealership did the repairs from the Coyote impact. Once they were done they took it to the service department. Everyone involved says it ran just fine. They said it must have happened when they turned it off in the service bay....at the end of the day I am glad they are fixing it no questions asked.

Edge case for sure. Couldn't have happened in a better place.

Recall done last Thursday, 26 parts replaced under recall including some 2017 revision parts (nice), and a 2017+ TOB along with fresh gearbox oil. Pretty happy with everything, especially since cars done 113k kilometers.

I'm having my dealer do my spark plugs and most of the 60k maintenance. They aren't going to charge me for the spark plug labor and were willing to use the motul gear oil I had purchased to go ahead and replace those fluids.

Going to save me around ~$400!

I'm making a list to give to the dealer as I'll be out of town while the work is getting done so they'll have the car for over a week.

Spark Plugs, Throw-out Bearing / Clutch, Brake Fluid (never did this myself, still running stock), Inspect & Clean Parking break and Suspension, Transmission gear oil, and Motor mounts.

Am I taking this way too far and should just stick to plugs TOB?

Nope. I am sure the dealer would be happy to any other maintenance items you request while the car is there. It give them more "work". Just know that the stuff like looking at ebrake and flushing brake fluid are all on you. I don't see any need to clean the braking break, but if you feel its not working correctly it could be in need of adjustments.

The plugs and clutch you will get a big savings on as its minimal extra labor.

I'm pulling the rest from the shop manual / maintenance plan (mostly) but I'm thinking I'll just do a thorough inspection before wildly tacking stuff on. As a point of clarification, what's the difference between replacing the throw-out bearing and the entire clutch? I've not replaced either before on any automobile.

The TOB is just a couple of clips and a $25 - $40 part (depending where you buy it). The clutch is ...well... all the clutch. If the TOB hasn't gone too bad then the clutch will be fine. If the TOB melted away to nothing then the clutch and flywheel will be toast.

You typically replace both together. The TOB on these cars is bad and fails long before the clutch needs replacement. If your clutch is good, you can probably get away with doing just a TOB, however, the cost of a clutch now is lots less than one in the future as your engine is already out.

During this recall, it would not be. The engine is removed.

Typically, it would likely be drained during a clutch or TOB removal as you would remove the transmission.

since the motor is removed, the TOB is visible and easily accessible. So, transmission fluid is drained if TOB is replaced?
