How do 2 different pairs of tire affect handling?

I wasn't sure whether this thread belongs here or in track/hpde section. Since it involves tires.. I'll put it here.

So I bought a set of used wheel/tire and tires are 2 yokohama s drive (30-40%) and 2 Federal SS595 (60-70%). I may bring these to track to wear them out and get new summer tires.

My question is.. since our cars are prone oversteer, should I use Federal in the rear to give more traction? I know s drive is better than ss595 but since federal has more rubber left, I thought that would provide more grip. I'll also have lower tire pressure in the rear. All suspension/chassis/brake parts are stock.

If you're headed to the track, why not swap them every other session? See what you like best/what works okay?

@Shutter The thing is that I'm only going to 1 session for this month.

He meant lapping sessions, not full days. Typically lapping days, HDPE, etc are broken down into run groups and you have to stick with your group, so you would have 20 minutes on track, then time off depending on the number of groups.

Plenty of time to rotate tires if you wanted.

I have been running two Hancook Ventus V2's and two OEM tires and have had them rotated twice. It works about like you would expect, the grippier tires in back help with the tail wagging and acceleration. In the front, the grippier tires helped with cornering, braking and eliminated some poor-driver-induced understeer.

If you are like me on the track, I was too slow in and too fast out so the grip would be best in the back. If you are a late breaker, I would put the grip in front.
