These PDF are the american version (G4400BE) instead of the european version for this CD image (G4400GE) including LH and RH (UK) models.
Am I right ?

In particular, I don't think the European version has the connector to plug the dimming mirror sold in US...

this CD and image come from Europe Version (SOI). Follow online manual to have both LHD and RHD.
Dimming mirror (Subaru produces one simply unit for all vehicles) is optional in all Europe Markets (but sold in Germany and Italy), so the connector is unplugged beside top.
In Europe wireless and radio conformity for the extended USA version isn't released. Therefore only (for Subaru) simply auto-mirror is sold.

Haven't found the connector.

Haven't found any option description for this dimming mirror in Europe.

IMO I think the connector is bind to the micro connector K4 you find in america's wiring, mike (for free-hand phone system) that seems to be in the gray box with stripes behind the light in the following picture. That's why the connector can be found behind the light.

That's true. I tryied to install the mine and I didn't find it. So, you can wiring from courtesy light and all it seems to run very well, compass too, but I wired only 2 cables on 3 of harness. (find "+" with tester)
I'll try to surf over american electric schema to find were wiring come from.

The problem is it's a permanent +, always draining battery...

Yeah, but very low as a loss of capacity. I assume that a wiring from HU harness may accommodate this trouble. So, I study american wiring to understand where pick up 12+ power under ignition.

It's not permanent +, at least not in American market cars. It's switched via the ignition.

In fact, it's the only vehicle I've ever seen that switches the power to the mirror - all my other experiences have been, the mirror is 'hot' all the time.

yes, but mirror harness provides 3 wires (black, black and black and white - 1-2-3).
Here is there the wiring diagram. Maybe , in european units, that the harness isn't beside light but on right side ...(see jpeg , roof wiring)
Is there any american guys that can discover harness to see how are wired as order and color?
I assume that all the 3 wires come from light wiring.

By the way, in Europe this mirror isn't legal (therefore is missing harness) as frequency as can store 3 set of RF wave out of european frequency regulations.....

Black wires are both grounds, white/black is 12V+, switched (on with accessory power).

Grounds are constant (not switched).

It's permanent as it is the courtesy light in non American car.

There are 2 version of the mirror : with or without remonte control.
Without is fully legal in Europe.
