From my understanding the main difference between PS4 and PS4S is that the PS4S has additional siping in the tread to direct water away. Shouldn't be any difference in the compound.

PSS were already discontinued when I was shopping for summers, so I went with the PS4S 245/40/17 on my 17x9 wheels. Pretty much glued to the road in all "summer" weather conditions we get here. They seem to have very good grip even in heavy rain.

Only have a 50k kms tread warranty, but I've put ~35k kms on them and my last measurement there was still over 70% tread on all tires.

Imho rubber compound also might be different a bit, with S standing a bit better against track temps. And probably stiffer sidewalls.

So I've had the PS4 for about 3 weeks now. I'm very happy with them, they're quiet and comfortable, lots of grip and they give nice feedback.

Like strat61caster mentioned, I can't tell much difference driving on the street except for "old vs new tires" difference. The car doesn't fishtail anymore, which is almost disappointing but then again - better safe than sorry
