The one I ordered for myself as a back up to the GR 86 or if it drives better (to me):

Limited 6MT
Crystal White Pearl
All-Weather Mats
Cargo Tray
STI Shift Knob

I called my dealer today and asked.

I placed my order on 7/24 and it has been assigned a VIN and is scheduled for delivery to port on 10/14. He then said it typically takes a week or so before it gets to the dealer, so like 10/21-24 for pickup.

Add: It's a Premium trim in white with 6MT.

I'd be extremely surprised if it has a VIN. Likely has a VON, vehicle order number. Vehicles get a VIN when they enter production.

Why would that be surprising? VON is assigned when you factory order so that's irrelevant.

I mean, I didn't ask him to read me the VIN, but that's what he said. I did order mine the day they opened here, maybe it is in production..

I’m going back and forth between ordering now or around February. Any insight what the better timing would be to avoid any markup over MSRP? In this market I’m honestly not expecting to get under MSRP. Manufacturers are expecting semiconductor shortage to get worse towards the end of the year, but then again this isn’t a very high volume car.

I didn’t hear anything about markups so far, you should be able to get under MSRP

Can the customer and dealer not agree on a price during pre-order? I'm curious if I can sell my 2017 brz for ~25k and buy a new brz for ~30k otd.

@Veloist Are you able to share how much you dealerships are willing to sell brz's for in 2021 out the door here on the forums?

here in Cali where tax is outrageous, OTD for manual premium with no extra accessories (cheapest option available) was 32k with a bit of change (msrp + unavoidable fees). For limited and/or automatic its a good chunk more, so 30k OTD is unrealistic

Wow. I'm assuming that is assuming your paying over msrp for the premium to get 32k OTD?

why would you assume that if I clearly stated to the contrary? lol

Here's the breakdown for msrp + fees in cali

The OTD is $32,041.75. MSRP $28,955 Doc Fee $85.00 Tax $2,541 Reg $422 State Tire Fee $8.75 Electronic Filing Fee $30

Limited Manual MSRP $31,455 OTD $34,780

Lol I guess I read that wrong. And I assumed it was not MSRP because I don't remember BRZ Limited's being that expensive. I paid under 30k for mine OTD. I guess they increased the MSRP quite significantly..

In California sales tax is based on the zip code you’re registering. You can literally be living 1 block away from someone paying 2% more than you in sales tax.

So for a Premium model with no accessories $31,455 after Destination…tax and fees is about 11%-11.5% (sales tax plus $500-$600 DMV reg fees).

So it’s more like $35k out the door.

^ And that’s just at MSRP.
