Just got my VON from the dealer, ETA is still November.

No email from Subaru, I suppose I can call them if I get antsy.

Can't wait! Last time I was looking forward to a car this much was when I was waiting for the FRS to get to the dealer lots for a test drive.

My dealer originally told me November, then when I emailed him a few weeks later he said it now reported as an October ETA. Called Subaru yesterday and the phone rep said the same thing but that he couldn't see any more detail than that (yet).

Well it's 821 AM in Japan on Sep 23rd. That is when they are supposed to open the plant again. Hopefully they started pushing out BRZs again.

Maybe they work on holidays. Their press release stated that they were to resume operations on Sep 22rd. The extension made it 10 days of production loss.

You can Google Subaru news Japan. That takes you to their corporate press releases on their website.

Interesting afternoon: trying to find a dealership to place a BRZ order with and after trying all 4 within a half hour of me I got:

1) Feb at the earliest so we’re not taking pre-orders
2) $3,500 over MSRP, $500 non-refundable down
3) hung up on me laughing when I asked “how much over invoice are you thinking?” (really)
4) $75 over MSRP, likely Dec but no promises

This is in comparison to the multiple Ford dealers who won’t stop calling me since I did a TrueCar thing like 2 months ago (that’s a mistake — don’t give them your info just to get constant MSRP “offers”). At least I found a couple of them that would do invoice and one that would do 4% under invoice.

I’d forgotten how terrible car-buying is. If anyone has a lead on a decent dealer in the Chicago area let me know.

FWIW, I put a deposit down on a WRB Limited on 6 September and was told informally that a late October/early November delivery seemed likely. Fast forward to this week when someone helpfully posted the Subaru advocacy hotline in this thread...hotline rep gave me my VON and told me (surprise!) their information projected a March delivery for my car. I pinged my dealership's sales rep to see if that tracked with his current understanding; he told me today he'd heard that all BRZ deliveries are now delayed until 2022 because of chip shortages...hopeful that's not the case, especially for those of you who got in particularly early orders.

if my order went from oct to march, then I'm going to be livid

Oh dear god I hope this isn't true. I bought the car that the dealer ordered for their showroom and they said November is when it'll be here, I really hope that stays true.
