.

My guess is that it that the VIN keeps things straight in TIS, and possibly allows for the key to be regenerated based on the same activation code should the unit get wiped. Back in the early 2000s we'd update the nav on Cadillac units via DVDs, and if the battery died you'd have to reinstall the update as well.

Since both the activation and request codes are randomly generated, incorporating the VIN to the response code wouldn't be needed. Not to say that they don't use it.

I'm back at work this morning. What a bummer after such a great long weekend.

I did get the "you are such a spoiled man" comments from the wife this morning.

"You go galavanting around the country in one of your sports cars, visiting friends, going to parties. You come home and the lawn is mowed, your shirts are ironed. You are so spoiled."

She is 100% correct. I think I need to take her out this weekend.

A network engineer just sent me an email that he couldn't register the license for a new firewall because support says it is already registered to the DOE Office of Secure Transportation. My response: "I suggest we let them keep it."

No doubt.

I was just invited to a poker tournament with the guys Saturday night. I wonder if I should press my luck.

I mowed my lawn... about an acre... with my push mower yesterday, then moved my daily driver, sports car, and economy car back into the garage. They're all the same car.

An acre with a push mower? That would kill me.

It's just a friendly game,$27 buy-in. It's more about hanging out, drinking and smoking, and being boys.

It ain't that bad.. sort of like a nice long walk in many, many circles while pushing a small Harley. On the other hand, I like to shovel snow, too, so I might be in the minority here. The only part of me that's sore today is my bald spot... forgot to put on sunscreen!

This is what I think of as a "push mower".

Surely, you didn't mow an acre of lawn with one of those ......
