I was 29 when I bought mine.

Did not even tell my girlfriend at the time I was buying one
"Oh sorry I will be a bit late... I'm at the dealership"

And the 50+ can often be empty nesters that can actually have a car that no longer needs to do family duty.

I was at the dealership and called my wife and said "I just accidently bought a new car I need you to come and deal with the financing".
She was especially shocked since I had just gone to the Mitsubishi dealer next door for an oil change and was in no way in the market for a new car at that point.

Was the Mitsubishi used as a trade?
That seems to be a common trend for people who buy these new.
You don't buy these cars with your head, impulse and spontaneity.

Yes it was. It was only two years old but I hated it! I had 3 others before that which I loved but the 12 just plain sucked balls.

The funny part is that the day I went in to ask about a new 86 I was talking to the sales person that sold me the FRS 5 years ago and the trade came up in the conversation. She started to laugh and pointed out the window and said "there it is now". Sure enough my old Lancer was right in front of me. The guy that bought it back then was in shopping for a Camry!

When I bought the FRS I didn't even know they were making them. Scion was just new in my city in 2014 so I had never seen one. Since I wasn't shopping for a car I had not looked at what was out there. I knew back in 2010 they were talking about making them but had no clue they actually had. When I walked into the showroom to kill time and look at one of these tC things I had seen recently. There in it's blazing golden glory was the FRS. I literally bought the very first FRS I ever knew exited or set eyes on in print, screen or real life.

I knew the BRZ was coming, thought it looked great on paper and review well in publications, but was happy with the Mini. My son needed a car, so i gave him the Mini. It had been worked on and was a fun track car. I was driving my diesel truck for a daily driver and missed the little car fun. One of my sons track friends runs the Subaru part of a large dealership and said i should talk to him next week. I told him what i wanted, he said he could get it. I good deal i took it. I went to the dealer the night it was due in. The truck was about an hour late, they rolled it off the transporter and i put it on my trailer signed the papers and left.
Called the young man to thank him, he said all the sales people were talking about the car that spent 10 min. on there lot.
I was 67 at that time. Not sure what i might get next. I try for 10 yr per car. Got 3 to go, granddaughter (now 17) says she will take it. If the factory would put a turbo on it i would do that. Maybe even sooner.
