Meh. We will still see a new thread for each of the 50 or so sites that will just copy past the original Best car crap and add their own new "facts" to it.

Some of the information has to believable to you since you swapped your ride in, I did the same thing based on what I had read.

None of the info was believable that is WHY I swapped in while I could.
There is not one single word of any form on a real vehicle. There is piles of speculation that such and such was a mule and one picture of a slide show represents a concrete schedule. We have no clue what was said when that picture was taken nor if it is even real.
As I have said several times the sites releasing this "info" have changed their story so many times that none of it is even remotely credible anymore.
People will now take the parts that were guessed right and mash them all together while totally ignoring the vast majority of the statements that were wrong and say "oh see they did have correct info"
Speculation is cool but let's not start saying "it fits what I want to think so it must be true".
The end of the Gen 1 does not mean the start of the Gen 2.
We have NO info beyond one press release that says "Yes we plan on making a new one". End of story.

If they plan to start production next summer, then it means that basic decisions are taken and first test cars are almost ready or to be finished soon!

I just wish someone on these sites would come up with a decent looking fake news MK2 artistic rendering. Getting tired of the "stair step lights" and "overdone scoopy scoops on the scoops" versions.

I'm not basing any of my speculation off of the click bait websites, I'm just responding with the information I do feel is legitimate based on the insiders over at mk5forums who have hinted at some disappointing news. It's pretty easy to tell which click baits news articles are complete bs and which ones might have a kernel or two of truth to them. It's the same crap that happened before Gen 1 came out.

There are also rumors that the second generations twins will have a 2L turbo engine and called Supra. So happy

This was always my biggest question mark about the previous rumors. The rumors were for the new car to be based on the TNGA platform with the FA24 but that platform was never designed to take a flat 4. Not like it couldn't be made to fit but that would require too many compromises for an OEM.

That said, I'm taking this rumor with a grain of salt as well for different reasons. I know it wouldn't cost much to retool the existing production line for the updated chassis but it would be a difficult long term business proposition to maintain that production line for a single model of low volume sports car.

In the end, gotta wait for official news to know for sure. I expect we will get some real news shortly after they stop taking orders for the existing generation.

Pretty sure that at least one of those guys is the same as here and one of the reasons I bailed on the next gen before even getting any real info.
Any that have a kernel of truth are more luck and just throwing enough shit out until some sticks.
All the past "insider" info could be trash now anyway.

i have serious doubts that they're going to be revamping a production facility in the current economic state with this virus stuff.

new, low volume, model launch will likely be delayed at least another year, minimum...

look at this way. what motivation do they have to push hard to make any sort of release date for a low volume vehicle, when they stand to actually make a significant profit on less specialty vehicles?

I have a dilemma. My 2015 is coming up on being 5 years old. I was holding out for the mk2 86, hoping for a decent power boost. Now, it looks increasingly like little if any real improvement, since a 10HP bump could easily be cancelled out by a likely increase in weight. Worse, Covid and the economic woes could quite conceivably lead to the mk2 either being shelved, or heavily delayed.

So now I’m wondering what to do. The 3.0 Supra is too expensive here, they aren’t releasing the 2.0 in Australia, and the mk2 86 now seems a less and less likely proposition... Wondering if I should consider doing what a few of you all have, and nabbing one of the last mk1s whilst they are still available, especially if production is stopping in June this year. Hmmm... decisions, decisions!
