Yeah that would totally solve that problem. Toyota should totally sell the stand alone airbag. That would make things so much easier.

No offense to anyone, but this just seems like a total waste of time and money, IMHO.

I like how you say "no offense" before saying something offensive lol. But yet I'm sure you will do things to your car that are total wastes of time and money in others' opinion. My car..don't hate. BTW, it's not a waste if it has value to me. Your opinion is irrelevant, except to yourself of course.

Awesome, glad to see someone did it. If I do it, it'll be the last thing I switch from Scion to Toyota, but props to you for doing it. Not sure why so many people want to give you crap for doing it. I don't see any difference in that or dropping the same amount on a sick video card in your PC because you're a hard-core gamer.

It's your car and your money, do what you want with it. Thanks for sharing the pics and letting everyone know you do have to swap the charge to the new bag.

I guess one selling point is those that are exporting them could remove the charge and it's no longer a hazmat item and wouldn't have to go slow boat, could go air freight then. Alternatively you could see if someone in another country wants a unique Scion bag.

EDIT: Any concerns the bag itself is different in the dual stage system vs. the single?

I think that people should just let him do what he wants. Ya it was expensive for what we might think is a trivial change. But it isn't our money or our cars. Just keep any negative comments to your self. There are way to many people on this site already that are telling people how to personalize cars that aren't even theirs. Just tell him if you like it or just leave it a simple "looks good" or "looks good but a bit pricey for me" and leave it at that. Just my thought on the matter.

Even though you're a Trojan, I'd still give you props for doing this mod. It's worth $800 to you and you have $800 to spare. At least the price will keep it rare here.
I'm seriously considering the $900 Grazio tail lights. It may be worth the $900 to me and I used to think $400 for S14 kouki tail lights was way too much.

None. The bag may be slightly different due to different manufacturer, but the only thing that being a different stage changes is the charge. The charge aka "bomb" in a dual stage is wired to change the speed of detonation depending on the speed of a collision. So when you get in a high speed accident, the airbag will deploy at at faster rate than if it were a low speed. collision. In a single stage, to airbag deploys at the same velocity regardless of the speed of the collision.

Hey bro, my philosophy is if you're going to do something, do it the right way and that's what I'm doing. Those tail lights are sick I'd have to see them in person though. Maybe I'll get to on yours someday. Trojans/Bruins - it's still LA. Thanks though!

P.S. 50-0 lol jk XD

Lift the hood and you will see Subaru every where

No offense, but I agree. Could have gotten a Leather/Suede Pro steering wheel for 1/4 that.

But I respect true dedication into converting into a Toyota.

Still have -

Clear side reflectors
Clear tail reflectors
Stitched Knee pads
Stitched E-brake boot
Framless rear Mirror

.. to go

I would think the painful part would be selling or trading in the car 4 or 5 years from now, when these are old news, and realizing how much money was going bye-bye. But to each his own...if an independently wealthy college student is able to swing it and enjoy, so be it...although I'm not sure a Scion owner can legally be classified as a "Baller"...hell...I'm not sure how a Toyota owner can either???

Yeah, I like to keep the original look. If it makes me happy, the price doesn't bother me. I wouldn't be content with your option. But again, that is your opinion and your preference. Totally respect that.

Already got clear sides & frameless mirror. Knee pads are ordered. E brake boot and handle and floor mats will be ordered in a couple days.

Fogs and Euro GT-86 HIDs will be on by the end of the year.

Not trying to be classified as baller at all man. I have very few vices that I spend my hard earned deployment money on. One just happens to be my vehicles. But I don't buy a car to trade it in or sell it. I would've still had my RSX-S if I didn't have to deploy to Afghanistan and have it sitting in storage for a year.
