I'm always disconnecting the battery, hence why my car is on the spectrum. A slow learner for sure.

A well charged, maintained and desulfated battery all the time for no effort, or none of that and having to deal with dis/connecting the battery and loosing volatile memories.

Seems like an easy choice.

I generally agree, which is why my car sits on a maintainer. But it's also in a garage with power.

Not everyone has a garage, electric to the garage, or is it the wisest financial decision to continue paying the electric costs of a maintainer if the vehicle is going to be sitting for extended periods of time.

If the vehicle will sit for a really extended period, even if you disconnect the battery you'll need a maintainer as lead acid batteries self discharge over time (at a rate of about 5% per month).

And how much power do you think a charger/maintainer pulls? Once a battery is charged it eats electricity in the milliamp range. Milliamps times 13v is still going to be like 0.1w of power, at the average cost of 16 CENTS per kW/h in north america, it'll cost like $1.40 per DECADE to run. Alright, give it 3$ per decade since the charger is also keeping the car alive and that sleeps at like 7-15mA on top of the few mA the battery is eating to keep full...

If a charger/maintainer is in the realm of a "financial decision", you need a second hand bicycle, not a sports car.
