I wonder if there are any mechanical changes related to the engine to enhance the response and improve the linearity of the power delivery, or if the changes are entirely in the ECU. I'm also interested to see a dyno comparison to see where the differences lie.

According to moto he "speculates" there are internal changes.

Don't even get me started on how our American brothers pronounce Nissan as Knee-san >.<"

Back on topic. Wouldn't surprise me if they updated the FD ratio. That is something that will dramatically improve performance and otherwise leave the engine with the same outputs.

I haven't heard anything official about this. They mentioned something about changed gear ratios which is not exactly a solution to the problem. Anyway, let's wait to see when they give us more information.

I respectfully disagree with your assessment and offer this link to further the discussion... https://answers.yahoo.com/question/i...6141905AAOeS4H

I'm happy to learn if I've been saying it wrong, though.

I remember Honda used to do this all the time with their JDM models back in the 90's (e.g. Integra SiR, NSX), usually as much as 10hp or more difference between the manual and the auto.

There was also mention in interviews of this power increase coming from a "redesigned intake and reduced friction internals." Moto's speculation that the 5hp and torque increase brings the output to "catalog" or publication spec is good news because, as he said, that would be an even greater increase.

New Civics in Honduh forums. They cream in their pants with news. We argue and ramble.

p.s. it better be fast with those gazillion buttons on the steering wheel. Clean steering wheel>>>>>>too many buttons.

Just look at the WRX.

I feel like I can phone home with those buttons. 2018 Toyota FRS/86 to feature steering wheel built in full keypad and phone.

Yeah, it is actually pronounced knee-san (nii). I took Japanese for several years. Sorry but the Australians are wrong on this one. It's not neh-sahn or neh-saan. But who really cares.

Bet that shows up in that Aussie car mag as a real thing for the next-gen.

While it's certainly speculation on Moto's part, I hope his closeness to the developers of the car give him a better idea of what is happening to the car. To me it sounds like he's saying that while power will remain the same at the crank, a more efficient drive train will be providing more to the wheels and maybe even changing the way torque is delivered.
