WedsSports TC105N + GT Radial SX2
Finally! I ordered these wheels very shortly after buying the car fearing that I wouldn't be able to snag them in the Dark Gunmetal color later on. They have been sitting in a closet for 6 months, so I was supremely excited to get the SX2s mounted and balanced on them this morning.
Big thanks to Doug at Chase Race. This guy knew his stuff. Very insightful and has clearly has decades of experience working on enthusiast & track cars. I should be all set to mount these with the CSG FLA this weekend. I'll be going back to Doug for the alignment next week if all goes well. Really cool to see Doug in action. I got a great run down of how he uses the mounting and balancing machines while he worked. Super nice guy. Beautiful! I love the square-shouldered look of the GT Radials too. As much as this is a performance build, I can't help but love when a tire fits just right. |

Nice. I have heard from the 86 cup guys that these work well and are really heat tolerant.

Being honest here I was a little more interested on that dining table. Man, that's pretty. Very simplistic, but very nice on the eyes.

Haha, thanks. These were taken at a house I used to live at. My buddies totally copied the table I have now! I believe it is from Ikea actually. |

CSG Spec Tein Flex A + Weds TC105N 17x9 +35
CSG Competition Lugs M12x1.25 Muteki Hub Rings I've been looking forward to this one for a long time now! The install was relatively straightforward. I had a bit of trouble lining things up in the rear, but a bit of help from the floor jack got things moving along nicely again. The recommended ride height yielded about a 1.5" drop. I knew I was taking a bit of a gamble with the alignment by sticking with the stock rear LCA, but it looks like I got lucky and got perfectly even camber in the back. Doug at Chase Race did a great job with the alignment. I can't recommend him enough to those of you in the PNW. Nice. I think you will find that at the ridge -3 is not going to be quite enough. I am at -3 as well and the outer shoulders are getting a bit overheated. At ORP -3 was not too bad.

Strange. I am on FLZ and have plenty of room for more adjustment.
Your car looks perfect BTW. I wanted white but bought used. |

More track prep! I was short on time this week, so I had Doug help me it with installing some last minute track essentials. I did receive my Jackson Racing oil cooler, but didn't have time this week to install it. I'm a little irked about doing a second event without one, but I'll get it rigged up after tomorrow.
Winmax W5 Pads Winmax BF Racing Brake Fluid Motul 300V High RPM engine oil Looking forward to bedding everything in and seeing how these pads do on track. The weather looks perfect. 80 degrees and sunny! |

Track day: Ridge Motorsports Park 6/16
Finally got around to uploading some footage of one of my Ridge sessions from 6/16. This was my first real experience with the CSG FLA and SX2 having installed them only a few days prior. I had also just installed the Winmax W5 pads, which couldn't be more different than OEM pads. I was messing up my heel-toes all day long!
If you guys have a minute, I'd be very interested in any thoughts you guys have on how to improve my time. I'm very much a novice, and have only 2 track days under my belt in this car. I had a best time of 2:09.33, which I felt could have been at least a 2:08 or 2:07 given that I heavily understeered around The Carousel on that lap. Virtual best was 2:03.xx if that means anything at all. I think I was something like 10-15 seconds faster than when I was on stock tires/suspension in cooler conditions. Not a good comparison, but it felt like a different experience altogether. I think I was so distracted by the squealing from my new Winmax pads—that I'm still trying to bed properly—that I could have braked later and harder into most turns. From what I can tell, I could do the following to take a few seconds off: 1) Brake later into T1/T2/Carousel 2) Downshift into 3rd going up the hill towards T3 (unless I can hang onto revs to hold 4th) 3) Wait to turn in on the carousel to avoid early apex 4) Earlier/more power out of 8A 5) Slightly later braking into 11 (at the curb if I can) 6) Go down to 2nd for 13-14-15 to get more power onto the straight. Definitely feel like I'm in the wrong part of the powerband here. Let me know what you guys think. I don't know how much time is really in the SX2, but I was really hoping to get at least 2:06 out of my current setup. Fastest lap: [ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kAOet7l131g[/ame] Session edit starting a few laps in when I pointed @kch by: [ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c2pvt3Cm80E&t=133[/ame] Sector times throughout the day (excluding cooldown laps) Also found it fun to upload the .kml files to view and compare laps on Google Earth Last edited by mistople; 06-25-2018 at 11:06 PM. |
