Not sure if it helps anyone but this is about 6k miles after recall.

Not looking great on my stories end and am likely going to end up in small claims with them. On a separate note, I can drop a manual motor into my automatic with minor changes correct? Just looking to get this resolved the most cost effective way

I believe you can swap it for a couple (several?) thousand dollars.

It's not a tranny, clutch pedal and shifter trim kind of thing. There was a thread a few weeks back, someone had it all layed out with dollar figures. It's 3-4x what you would expect.

I have not kept up with this thread.
After the first few fails, I decided I will never bother doing this recall.

Are there actually people still doing this recall?
Have the dealers still been having problems or is the recall all good now?

Just so we're clear, im literally talking about just the engine, not swapping my transmission. Just dropping a engine from a manual car, into my automatic car. Nothing about swapping the transmission.
Turning a manual engine, into a engine in an automatic car.

Yes, probably getting done somewhere just about every day, although we'll never really know since there are no numbers published on this, and VAST majority of users impacted are not on this forum.

Well, some shops never had issues, and some shops only had one or maybe two. I don't recall seeing a recent failure (as in the work was just done). Again, we'll never know for sure.

Ah! Much better. Shouldn't be anything you can't swap from your current engine. Vacuum pump is the only thing off the top of my head?

I picked mine up last Friday and already have about 1200 hard miles on it. So far so good. I'll probably change the oil before I go back out on the road again next week just for good measure.

After speaking w the director of the dealer, my final options are:
1. Service Manager(who was the only one who wants to help even remotely), offered to put in a used motor that I bring to them into my car for no labor.
2. Kick rocks.
3. Have a separate shop put in a motor I purchase and pursue reimbursement in small claims. Unsure how it would look in court if I was to let the dealer put in the motor and then pursue small claims.
Car is still gutted so realistically the only labor I'm going to end up paying no matter what is essentially testing the motor, and swapping auto engine parts over into the manual engine.

Also, if anyone has any helpful info on freight shipping, please pm me. Like if there's any solid and preferably fast ones. East coast.

MY 2013 limited BRZ auto

Had the valve spring work done in the 1st week of July. Put roughly 1k miles on it round trip in the last week of July for a road trip. After I got home, I only put about 7-10 miles on it a week (daily driver for work) Went on another road trip in the last week of August, another 1k round trip.

Some time during the drive home or within the day or two after, the noise started.

Noise: single or double metallic tap @ startup. while warming up, no abnormal noises. Once rpm drops <1k idle , slight metallic rattle timed perfectly with engine rpm sounds. If you rev up the engine at all, the rattle increases on tempo with the engine until it gets to about 1100-1300 and then it disappears.

While driving, if i take my foot off the gas and allow the car to coast down a hill, engine idles low enough to create the noise again. also can be heard at a stop light/stop sign.

The dealership was really busy this week, but after a week of no news they told me the flex plate is cracked and they can't prove if it was them or not while doing the recall work, so they're going to fix it w/ no charge.

Webster Groves Subaru @ Saint Louis

I will try to remember to update this if i hear anything else about it!
